As it's Ebook Thursday, I have a review over on
It's Not Chick Porn.
This is a pretty exciting day, as it marks the 100th post on this little blog. To commemorate this occasion, I'm going to run a contest. I want 100 comments on this blog entry. Yep, you heard right. Tell your friends. Post more than once. Post your grocery list, post whatever, I don't care. Let's talk about sex, baby, let's talk about you and me... sorry, I'm good now.
Whoever posts the 100th comment on this topic gets a $50 gift certificate from Amazon or a big box of Godiva chocolates, whichever makes you happiest. No, you can't have both. You must choose. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. Want it?
Let's get this party started.
Labels: contest, Ebook Thursday
My 100th post will be tomorrow, and I love your contest idea. Can I steal it?
Bam oughta be sending you some reading material soon.
I got it. You're on deck for next week, LE.
Bonus prize - I referenced two shitty pop songs in that post. Name them both and the artists and you get a $10 gift certificate from Amazon. You have to read the comments to win. Mwahaha. I'm so devious.
Oh, what did Bam send?
Oh, and My Sun and Stars is already at #11 for Phaze after just 3 1/2 days on Fictionwise, and is poised to hit the top ten.
Grats on Sun and Stars. As I told Bam, you have a knack for worldbuilding and the way you write your m/m relationships makes me forget about the dueling dicks and just see two people falling in love. There's a real grace and delicacy in your writing.
For Cassidy's books, you should have asked Bam to borrow some of the Content Rating buttons I made her. There's one in there for Big Misunderstanding.
Dueling dicks. I ought to send her a button for that.
And just to clarify, I'll be making MY 100th post on MY silly little bloggie tomorrow.
Sorry, NO idea which songs you referenced in that post. Probably because I refuse to acknowledge listening to any shitty pop.
In other news, I shipped my recently rejected story off to Harlequin's Spice Briefs line. (One of my CPs remarked that this sounds like a line of edible underwear, not books, but hey, it's Harlequin, I said!)
What a RUSH...'free will's one of your "shitty pop songs"
have to think about the other.
We'll get you to that 100 post mark!
We have our first winner! Big grats to Lainey, who spied and ID'd both shitty pop songs and their artists. $10 amazon gift coming your way, lady.
I mean, like I told Bam in a e-mail, when my former agent was subbing Guide around, I received the following CONTRADICTORY feedback regarding the project:
One editor says I have a "real knack for natural dialogue." Another says, "I didn't warm to the dialogue." One editor says, "it wasn't sexy enough." Another says, "the best part of the book was the sex."
So what the hell?
Loose Id bought it a week and half after I subbed and said it was fab the way it was.
I mean, if the writing has technical problems or you wrote it in second person or some weird shit, I can see feedback being helpful. But beyond a certain point it's just like, oh, what the hell, I like it, let's move on.
But it's a fine line between artist and moron. I ought to know. :D
(No worries Jacq, we'll get you to that 100 mark tom.)
I must confess...I immediately knew the Rush lyrics. What can I say, the song Lakeside Park is in the park where I 'grew up'. My kids id'd the other...don't know salt 'n peppa
LE, you're 17. Your ISP is slooooooow. *grins*

But I admit, I'm dead early in the process. I've sent a sum total of one query letter to an agent and one manuscript submission to a publisher/editor that I've gotten a response on. So perhaps I'm simply hoping for more than is reasonable!
Any time you want to contact me, go with that 'hot' address. I check it regularly...plus, it actually works in real time.
It's okay, LE. I don't mind. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Note on this contest -- I won't post any new blog entries until we wrap this up. I don't want any other posts competing for comments. I can't wait to see who my big winner is.
Since i only see 2 of my homies here and that includes you, i'll see who all i can herd this way. It's amazing how quickly that reply number can climb.
And the race is on....
Michele, I will totally pick you if you get the #100 post on here.
Yay, Carrie, major grats on the full request for Serenade.
I actually like both those songs, DQ. It would be embarrassing to reveal what I have in my mp3 collection.
I wrote my 5K yesterday, and I'll do it again (and again) for the next six days. What does not kill me makes me stronger.
Hehe, I think it's a pretty good prize, Tara -- either $50 in books or that much in chocolate. (The heart palpitates) So yeah, Rhi, by all means, herd people this way. I'm celebrating 100 posts.
Here's a poem for the day. Man, I love Sara Teasdale. I have her full collected works.
A Prayer
by Sara Teasdale
When I am dying, let me know
That I loved the blowing snow
Although it stung like whips;
That I loved all lovely things
And I tried to take their stings
With gay unembittered lips;
That I loved with all my strength,
To my soul's full depth and length,
Careless if my heart must break,
That I sang as children sing
Fitting tunes to everything,
Loving life for its own sake.
Hmm, he could be right? :P
Almost half-way! I linked ya on my bloggie today. See if I can detour any traffic down Annie-lane!
Annie Lane? Wasn't that a Woody Allen movie? No, wait, that was Annie Hall. ;) Never mind.
Maybe I can do "a duelling 100th post/100th comment" contest. If my site gets the 100th comment before yours, I'll see your Amazon gift certificate and raise you a contest entry fee of no more than $25. If not, I just give away the contest entry fee. Of course, that might scare people away from commenting here, but I kinda doubt it. They're more likely to get their $50 or box of chocolate here than from me!
Hehe, Jac. :) I know how I can get to 100 fast. I just need to post: JR Ward's Black Dagger books suck the big one and this place will light up. :D
i know you didn't just say that.
those books are gold, i bet you cant even write a grocery list.
who do yo uthink you are anyway?
And await my wet noodle lashes...
I've decided one of my goals this year is to tend my blog more regularly. I discovered I had a "moderate comments" button on and a slew of comments I never knew about collecting dust. Yours was one of them. Thanks for stopping by. And I'll send more people your way to help you reach your goal.
Get ready for a toast!
Of course she can count her own comments! :P
I won't wet noodle ya, Jacq. We're in the same boat. Huh? :0
KC
Oh, by the way, I have a new crush: Eric Bana.
Maybe I have a fetish for actor-who've-played-superheroes. Behold: Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, and now... The Hulk. huh.
No, I never liked Toby Mcguire (spidey), Keanu Reeves (constantine), Tom Jane (the Punisher), and Ben Affleck (daredevil). Or... gross... Nic Cage (ghost rider).
Huh. Maybe I just never had a thing for Marvel superheroes (except the Hulk)
I never had a thing for Hugh Jackman, either. Does that make me weird?
-NERD ON!
100 is an ambitious number for comments if your blog doesn't usually get near that many on a regular post. I think the most comments I ever got on a single post was 65, and it was a post about hair; I got so sick and tired of the subject that I disabled further comments on it.
But 100 comments on pretty much anything (other than hair, please!) is very doable. Might be too easy, in fact -- you should've made us jump through hoops. ;)
::spoken by the person who NEVER wins ANYTHING, even if she's the ONLY contestant!::
And Congratulations! You and Jacquie are like twins :-)
And Lacey, I'd LOVE to be Annie's twin. Not only is she way cool, a bitchen' writer, and very funny, but she lives in one of my favoritist cities on earth.
Hmm, chocolate or books? On one hand, I usually prefer shopping B&N over Amazon, but I don't need chocolate in my life in the middle of Girl Scout Cookie season.
Holy cow, on my lurker tracker thingie, I had 22 people on here earlier. Sweet!
And Amazon sells Godiva, so it's a win win :)
Ann(ie), was it ever defined if your comments count or not?
And my verification thing looks like a good name for a martian. It has a q and three x's.
Yep, it's the 100th post, whoever gets lucky. I can bump the post count as well as anyone, I just can't win.
Good luck!
I'm going with my VDH to see The Fountain tomorrow. (Carrie, it has Hugh Jackman! and Rachel Weisz, who I would totally do. Yum)
I want to see 300, too...
Grats on 100 posts!
Also, I hope Keith Olbermann is back from vacation on Monday.
the word verification is smaller this time - yeah!!!
And yes, the verification words are hella long!
I rescind my earlier comment. Maybe we shouldn't let Annie take her own posts into the count. :0
I'll take an independent confirmation, though, please. (Not by you, Jac :P)
DAMN YOU, ANDREW JACKSON!!
And no, I'm not counting. I think was 99 and 101. At least, that's what the counter at the top told me. So I think it was Carrie!
Check out all the traffic though. I'm impressed!
Congrats on 100 and 100+!
CARRIE LOFTY
So will it be Amazon gift certificate or Godiva chocolate?
Now, I'm popping over to Jacqueline's blog to post there. . . and keep my fingers crossed.
Nice meeting you!
