And the winner is...
Wow, when you're trying to keep quiet, it becomes a chore! I thought of at least five posts I wanted to make, but I refrained because of the contest. You're going to be hearing a lot from me in the next few days.

So Guide is out. I put a link in the sidebar, so people can find it. Now the blog can return to its regularly scheduled yammering and ranting.

Mrs. Giggles has already reviewed it (what a sweet lady!) and I feel blessed that she gave the book a 70. I didn't realize she dislikes chick-lit type books, but I did send her a copy. She expressed interest in my work a few months back, so I hooked her up when the time came. My only comment on the review is this: I've never read Bridget Jones or watched the movie, so if I wrote something similar, albeit with hotter sex, it wasn't a case of emulation. You know what they say about monkeys, typewriters and Shakespeare (not that Guide qualifies as any such thing).

I know you're all eager to find out who won the 50 bucks. So without further ado...

AMY S, COME ON DOWN!

I need an email from you, ma'am. You won the loot and a copy of Guide, so contact me using the button on the upper left in the sidebar. Let's descend on Amy's blog and congratulate her!

There's a lot more coming this week, but for now, let's celebrate Amy's win and Guide's release. If you read it, be sure to email me and let me know what you thought. See, I have some openings for fangrrls and they get excellent perks. I could also use some haters to provoke the fangrrls. This is a ground floor opportunity with infinite potential (and it doesn't involve MLM or Tupperware!) Drop me a line, you know you want to.

PS - QB is totally right about blog karma. As soon as I posted the winner to this contest, I got an email from Jason Sizemore of Apex Digest, saying, "congratulations, you've won the slipcase edition of WETBONES as part of our Temple: Incarnations promotion." From this, I extrapolate, hey, I won a free book. Sweet! Thanks, Michele! She pointed me toward Temple in the first place.

Congrats Amy!!

And HUGE congrats to you, Annie!

You know, it's interesting that Mrs. G gave you such a good rating in spite of the fact that she doesn't care for chick-lit. I'm not a big chick-lit fan either, but since I usually enjoy more books than Mrs. G, and I already enjoy your "voice", I'm betting that I'm going to find Guide VERY enjoyable!

You're already on my Decadent Desires (TBP) list!

Oooh, thanks, Rhian. I hope you like it. You too, QB. I can't wait to hear what you guys think, positive or negative. I'm just a feedback whore at heart.

You can even email me, "You suck!" and I'll be tickled cos I like getting reader emails. If you email that, though, I do hope you add, "Freebird!" to the bottom of the note, cos that always makes me giggle in movies.

Ya know, when some hopeful newbie takes the stage? There's always a drunk in the audience who yells, "You suck! Freebird!" no matter what kind of music's being played...

Eh, I'm okay. Really.

Oh, also... Guide does have a chick-lit feel in some ways:

small town girl in the big city, learning to believe in herself, etc

But there's no shopping therapy or name-brand dropping, which should make people happy. I hope I took the best parts of chick-lit and combined them with erotic romance. That was my intention, anyhow. And if you don't like this one, there's always the next. :)

I was so excited when I saw that you'd won! Horray!!

What's WETBONES about, Michele?

Bought it, reading it, love it. First line of chapter two killed me. =)

Hee! I love that bit, Erica. You know, April mentioned that over on Bam's site. She referenced that exact scene and said, among other things:

"I barked a laugh loud enough to startle the cat."

Humor is so subjective, it tickles me to know other people find Guide funny too.

It's great! I'm up to chapter 15 now and I'm ticked that I have to call it a night so I can catch a little sleep before work tomorrow. I only meant to start a scene or two, but then, fifteen chapters later... =)

Annie, I LUUUUURVE Guide. Adore it. Hot and funny and touching and just overall terrific. (And, for the record, I don't read chick-litty stuff, either, so I have no basis for comparison. I just know I love it.)

And am sending you loads of friendly, envious hatred *g!

Congrats on the win, Amy and congrats on the release Annie. :) I'll be buying it as soon as I'm done paying the lawyer for my husband's speeding ticket.
