For the love of contests
I'm already running two. You knew about those, right?

Contest one:
If you sign up for my newsletter in the box to the left, you could win a signed copy of Stone Maiden, my two romantic comedies in your choice of formats, and a $50 gift certificate from Amazon. If we hit 500 names on the mailing list by August 15, which is when the contest ends, then I'll double the book money. Random drawing, like always. Have you signed up yet? What are you waiting for? I run special contests on the loop as well, but you aren't eligible unless you're a member of my inner circle.

Contest two:
Over on the Bradford Bunch, I'm running another contest, like always. If you comment on your favorite authors over there, you'll be entered in a drawing for a special mystery prize. The members of my loop know what it is, but they're not telling. It's good, though. That contest runs until midnight on Saturday, July 28th. So don't miss out.

I'm feeling the urge to give more stuff away. Why? Well, good things (and bad things) are supposed to come in threes, right? There's a reason people stay away from ladders, and toss spilled salt over their shoulders. We gotta keep the evil spirits at bay, don't we? So here we go with contest three.

It's quite simple. Go here. Generate a number of fantasy novel titles, pick your favorite one, and then post it in comments. Why?

Because the prize is an urban fantasy mega-pack. I'm giving away the following books:

These are some don't miss books right here. I'll draw a winner on Sunday, so this contest will wrap up at the same time as the one I have running on the Bradford Bunch.

I played with the title generator myself, and here are my favorites.

Isilda's Crown
The Lady Dreams of Summer
Sword and Discord
The Crystal Sun
The Island Faerie
The Legend of Wissan
Daliniof's Lady
Demon and Chaos
Goddess of Pride
(sounds like PC Cast)
Mardian's Storm
The King of Magic
The Storm Spell

Aren't those awesome? I love playing with title generators. I might even use some of those one day. Now it's your turn, and you get to win some shit. You lucky, lucky readers!

I liked "The Mistress of the Memory". It just struck as a title that was intriguing.

Yes, that's a good one.

Now that I re-read, doesn't this sound like a trilogy?

Mardian's Storm
Daliniof's Lady
Isilda's Crown

I LOVE The Lady Dreams of Summer and The Island Faerie. Those titles practically beg me to write a book so I can use them.

This one made me giggle: The Faerie Seed.

Ew.

But I liked Winter, Dragon and Stone.

Oh thanks for the link! I like Mage of Chaos.

"The Mistress of the Maiden" -- sounds like Joey W. Hill does fantasy. :D
But I think the one I liked best was "Desert of the Sunset Magic." Because I am totally and completely bored at my new job until I get computer access, I may give myself an additional assignment. 200 words about my title. Wanna see it if I do?

The Children of the Dark

That one is my favorite because I think I already have it planned :)

Ooooh, these are cool!

I got "The Autumn Hunter" (is this hunter hunting in the autumn or hunting the autumn itself?) and "Goddess and Empire".

I could play with this thing all day!

"Eastern Seed of Lagwas" just popped up. This, of course, leads me to wonder about the Western, Northern, and Southern Seeds. But, why stop at the cardinal directions? Why not go Southwestern or Northeastern?

Seriously though, I'm going with "Demon of Pride" because it's so flexible. Is it a Harlequin title, a standard Regency romance, or a paranormal? It's so vague that the possibilities are endless. :)

love
Demon and Chaos
The Storm Spell

those really sound great. :-) It would definitely get peoples attention.

I like the sillier ones. I got the rather inane sounding "The Bane of the Secret," which is handy because it also provides a title for the sequel "The Secret of the Bane"!

I quite like the comments here about the why of the title preferences.

My favourite was 'Crown of Illusion'. It makes me wonder what the illusion is, makes me think about reality being played about with. Is it a king, a madman or a politician that this title refers to? All three? Illusion and reality are definitely the basis of several themes I could enjoy reading and/or exploring.
