The wait is over!

Laura and I pitched an urban fantasy series a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure y'all remember me mentioning Good Touch from time to time. It's along the lines of Patricia Briggs, but with my own voice / twist on the genre. Anne Sowards, my editor for the Jax books, compared me to Ms. Briggs. Of course, she also compared me to Jim Butcher, and I nearly melted into a puddle of boneless goo. They're two of my favorite authors!
On Friday, Anne offered for my urban fantasy series on pre-empt -- three book deal! She and Laura did some negotiating and they've worked out an amazing deal. We've officially accepted the offer now, so I'm free to squee about it.
I love working with Anne. She's brilliant, gifted, visionary, and she has a marvelous way of making my books better without dismantling them. This is a dream come true. So I'll be writing two series for Ace simultaneously. I'm still dazed, to be honest.
A little more information -- there are no shifters or vamps in this series. Magic exists, but it's ritual based, not point and shoot. Demons can be summoned and pacts are made, but by and large, mankind is responsible for all the evils in the world in one way or another. There are Gifted humans, who possess powers like TK, telepathy, pyrokinesis, clairaudience, clairvoyance, and psychometry. The heroine of the series, Corine Solomon, possesses the latter, which is the ability to read objects with a touch. Hence, this is called the Touch series.
I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself, so I want you to come party with me. To share my good fortune, I'm giving away a $25 Amazon gift certificate just for the hell of it. Show me some comment love up in here, and you might get something back. You also won't want to miss contests I'm running on the Bradford Bunch and in my author loop, Action and Attitude. If you haven't already joined that, you should do so now, or you'll miss the September contest.
If you're having a hard time assimilating this much awesome, I'll break it down. Pre-empt. Three-book deal. Ann is writing two series for Ace.
Come on, y'all. Party with me!

You are one of the few authors that writes contemporaries I can enjoy. You'll probably have me enjoying Sci-Fi with Grimspace (whoda thunk it?!). And I haven't gotten to Boundless yet, but from the buzz I've heard, you hit a home run with paranormal romance. So, nope. While I'm THRILLED for you, it doesn't surprise me one bit that you will conquer the Urban Fantasy genre too. Ultimately, all these genres are character driven, and you have a way of magically breathing life into your characters.
Heartfelt Congrats!
HOOOOORRRRAAAYYYYY!
Go Ann, what great news!!
Cheryl
Pennyoz who has forgotten password.
Rebecca -- you know it!
Estella - thanks!
Cathy - the first chapter is available on my webpage. :)
Kat - You have impeccable taste! Dance Monkey is the official mascot around here.
Ann - isn't it? I'm absolutely thrilled.
ps - chance is HOT
:-)
Looking forward to reading the new series. Don't keep us in suspence too long.
I can hear your squealing over in Colorado!
Congrats!
Cicily
People, I was privileged to read the proposal package for the Touch series and it's amazing to me how someone could have that much planned out in advance. This is going to be a big hit for Ann.
Jenny, thanks! I hope you'll enjoy reading the books.
And thanks for all the good wishes... Shiloh, Alexandra, Bluefingers. I'm glad to see y'all here.
Bonnie, I wasn't actually as specific as I should've been, tbh. But I won't know the answer to certain questions (like who Corine winds up with!) until I actually write the books.
I love the joy of discovery in my process. Without that suspense, I'd lose some of the magic.
Cheers, Anne! Can I give a good old fasioned 'Huzzah'?
HUZZAH!
Congratulations
Keep up the good work!

Cathy, when you say paranormal, do you mean the abilities I mentioned? Or magic? I'm interested in your thoughts because quite often these days, anything paranormal is assumed to encompass vamps / shifters, and my world doesn't.
*grins* Thanks, Cora.
*hugs Lauren* Eeeeeeeee!
Thanks for stopping by, Judy and Chloe. I hope this won't be your last time here.
OMG that's awesome!! What great, great news! Go Annie!!!!!!!
I revoke the frown face of confusion and replace with po' broke college student look of agonized joy with some dashes of desperation pending a find for funding books.
Congrats. =D
Danette - *dances in the confetti* Thanks!
Erica - That was an awesome squee, thank you.
L - You have plenty of time! Grimspace isn't out until Feb, and then the next release looks to be September.
Dionne - nah, not really. But I have done well. Thanks for saying so, though. *Hides her tiara*
Cathy - You make a good point. Paranormal encompasses a huge spread these days. (Why did that sound so dirty?) My hope was that my series would offer an alternative to people who wanted that flavor without all the usual suspects (Vamps and Shifters).
Congratulations! I'm definitely going to watch for that since Jim Butcher + Patricia Briggs = orgasmic, lol, and after hitting up your website and reading the excerpts your style is pretty catchy all on it's own.
And the concept's pretty cool, a supernatural world *without* vampires and wolves. That should be tres interesting. *back to lurking*
I remember your email, Kim. I think I told you we'd pitched it, but I had no news yet to report.
I'm not putting up a new post until next Monday, partly because I'm lazy, have a headcold, and my kid is sick too, but also partly because it contains a contest and I want everyone to have a chance to enter for the $25 gift certificate.
And plus, who am I kidding? I like seeing "pre-empt" on the top of my blog, so I'm milkin' this for a full week. Hehe. Thanks for all the good wishes. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy when I really feel stoned and muzzy.
I've actually managed to get some work done today. I guess the buzz can't last forever.
(To add to the private ones, because private ones don't get me a chance for an Amazon gift certificate.)
And I never did have that margarita in your honor in NM--maybe because I mostly ate in cheapo diners (still yummy, though). Maybe this weekend. Maybe tonight!
Mmm, I love diner food. Hope you had a good time in NM. Do have that Margarita for me soon.
*laughs* Ok, L. If you have to resort to honest work to finance my books, so be it.
Hi, Sweet. Welcome! I don't have release dates for the Touch series worked out with my editor yet. Anne said we'd probably know next week, so I'll keep you posted.
And thanks so much for your kind words. I can't wait until February so people can read Grimspace and decide whether it's Whedonesque and what-not for themselves.
Your work looks great!
Lurve it when my friends rock the town! ;-)
Hope you're still off celebrating,
E
I hope you're still partying cos you deserve it.
