Muir: Her quiet strength, loyalty, willingness to sacrifice and absolute faith make her a wonderful heroine. Watching her develop and grow from being totally subservient until she is, for all intents and purposes, the most powerful and important person in two societies, is a beautifully told story. I love the way you portrayed her transition from being a totally subservient woman to one who is powerful and in control yet chooses to give and sacrifice without diminishing her strength and power in any way. She is a remarkable character.
"Thank you very much for your support of Equality Now. We are touched that you have chosen to support us in this way, through your work."
When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Your #9 reminded me of what my Dad told me about a seminar on motivation he once attended. The speaker asked the audience that the next time they're waiting at a red light, they should turn and wave and smile at the driver in the car next to them. :)
much love and peace,

Self-love, extended kindness, openess, and the willingness to learn are the foundations for lving in a world where everyone isn't you but you are the one person you'll always have to deal with.
Wonderful, inspirational words!

And thanks for visiting my TT.
But you guys made this the best T13, ever, bearing out my theory that if you step out and shine, people will shine back at you. My world is a brighter place today because of each and every one one of you.
Especially you. And you. And you...
Damn, now I have to start singing that "If I could give the world a Coke" song. Let's light some candles!
And Ros, you're not the only one. I wasn't trying to call anyone out. There have been others who maybe were like, "WTF, she is SO meddlin'!" but you never know until you try. I'm glad if it helped even if a little, but I sure didn't mind that you didn't answer. When you reach out to somebody, it's never about you, so my feelings don't enter into it.
Happy TT and thanks for visiting my list.
I once had a massage and facial. A new mommy, I hadn't felt confident in my body for a while. After I finished at the salon, feeling refreshed and pampered, an older gentleman (total stranger to me) stopped me on the sidewalk, smiled, and said, "You're beautiful." I still feel full inside when I remember that. Doesn't take much to give that back to someone else.
Relationships,Love,Sisterhood,Compassion,Spirit Acceptance-We should all embrace more of that.
