13 games I love

Why, yes, I am a huge dork, thank you.

1. Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
There’s just something about snapping a dude’s neck in one move… I’m playing this now, a little at a time. Because I have work to do! *eyes the Xbox*

2. Knights of the Old Republic
Say what you will, this game kicked ass. Great storyline, great characters, touch of romance, and you get to become a Jedi. What more do you want?

3. Neverwinter Nights
This game offers endless fun because of the community modules. You just never run out of things to do or new adventures.

4. Baldur’s Gate
One of the best computer RPGs of all time.

5. Baldur’s Gate 2
This one was even better than the first. Better graphics, amazing NPC interactions. Just fantastic.

6. Jade Empire
I was totally addicted to this game. If I wasn’t playing it, I was thinking about playing it. Come to that, I wanna play through it again…

7. Neverwinter Nights 2
Great graphics. The mods aren’t in yet, but I hear the toolset is harder to master. The official campaign was good, though. I’ve looked at one custom adventure and it’s pretty impressive.

8. Knights of the Old Republic 2

Okay, I know, this game got a bad rap because of the ending, but overall, it’s a really fun game. I’ve replayed both KotRs like a bazillion times, and that’s the sign of a good game.

9. Eye of the Beholder
This is embarrassing to admit, but this was the first computer game I ever played. Really basic DnD hack and slash game, but it totally sucked me in.

10. Planescape: Torment

This is the only game whose ending ever made me cry.

11. Fallout 1 & 2

I’m listing these together because I played them back to back. My husband suggested I might like them so I blew through the first one and he immediately handed over the second. You can become a hooker or a pimp in this game or have a gay marriage!

12. Oblivion
I commandeered the Xbox 360 for several days over this one. Andres was not amused.

13. World of Warcraft
I leveled a toon to 60. I really did. I had to quit this game cos it was sucking up all my free time. I’m a recovering WoW junkie.

I feel so out of touch–I haven’t played any of these. I do hang out with people who do, though–does that count? :)

Hmmm I don’t know any of these.

Right now my current addiction is Viva Pinata. Which I have played in ages due to deadlines.

I love me some Jade Empire, BG 1& 2, and Oblivion (and to just be a total nerd, I will now inform you that my character was this giant Nordish woman who somehow managed to be the head of the fighters, thieves, and magic guild).

My fave-game-with-an-annoying-ending was Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Highly rec it, even though the end was annoying. Very well written characters and dialogue.

*Makes the “live long and prosper” sign at Skyla*

My Oblivion toon was this homely ass half-orc chick, which made it ever so hilarious when the “flirt” options came up in game. The funny part is, it actually worked on some Orcish weapons dealer. He lowered his prices!

LOL! I always get a kick out of having a Nordish character, with her bulky armour and huge weapons, somehow able to sneak around a castle and pick pockets. I’m a hack ‘n slash kleptomaniac. ;-)

I love, love love Baldur’s Gate I and II! Haven’t played in a long time though. My dude is really into Battlefield 2142 and Red Faction.

For the PSII? Burnout Revenge. God, I love that game.

Dang it! I saw the title and was expecting a list of sex games. sigh. I don’t play vidgames or computergames because the potential for never doing anything else is waaaayyyyy too high.
I would get sucked into the alternate world and never be seen again. seriously.

    Hahaha, rhi, no.

I’m not the sort of author who posts about my RL sex life. There must be some mystique, dammit.

I loved Baldur’s Gate!!! After that, I got caught up with all the Tycoon games and then the Sims game.

Gosh, why don’t I have time to game anymore???

    Happy TT!

I have a PS2 and I’ve been working my way through the Lord of the Rings: the Third Age. Great game, but when you get to some places it takes forever to get past the battle. I also like the Hobbit. I might have to see if any of the games on your list are available for the PS2. I do have one computer game that I found quite addictive 1602A.D. Happy Solstice!

Isn’t Nathan Fillion one of the voices for “Jade Empire”?

How on Earth do you find the time to game AND write??? Do you ever sleep????

    Happy TT, a day late.

Yes, Nathan was Gao the Lesser. Yet another reason to play Jade Empire, Dee!

Many of the games I listed I haven’t played in years, or don’t even own anymore. Perhaps I should have said “loved”, although that’s not entirely accurate. I still love them all! As for finding time, well, writing comes first obviously. I’ve played one hour of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay in the last week.

um… I’ve played Pong, Zaxxon, Tetris, and Jawbreaker. Oh, and Solitaire.

Does that make me a dinosaur dork? A pioneer geek?

I have WATCHED my kids play Guitar Hero and the newest Zelda. Does that give me ANY redeeming brownie points?
