**This is not a new post. I’ve just bumped it up because I’m announcing a winner.**
(titles redacted since none of them were selected)
If more than one person picks the right title, they ALL get ARCs. And if marketing makes up their own title, and doesn’t pick one from my list (or if nobody guesses the right title), then I’ll draw a random name. Sound fun? All you have to do is… choose.
Ok, so I finally get to wrap up this contest — the contest that would not end. I got my title today! *drum roll*
BLUE DIABLO.
Since they chose a name not on the list, I drew a random winner. And that is:
MELISSA BLUE!
Congrats! You walk away with an ARC of Grimspace.
Look for BLUE DIABLO in bookstores around April ‘09.

Burning Dreams is my fave.
by Amy S. October 23rd, 2007 at 3:24 pmHeathen Magic, Not a lot of titles with the word Heathen. It just stands out to me.
by Sweet October 23rd, 2007 at 3:37 pmSalt and Bone.
by Carrie Lofty October 23rd, 2007 at 4:23 pmSalt and Bone (I’ll be honest–it’s not my absolute favourite but one that I think has a better chance of being picked)
by Kat O+ October 23rd, 2007 at 4:28 pmBoneyard Boogie is my favorite too.
by C. Gwynn October 23rd, 2007 at 4:38 pmBurning Dreams was the one that caught my attention.
by Susan October 23rd, 2007 at 6:01 pmIt’ll be interesting to see which one the PTB at Ace prefer. I should note that this contest will be running for a long time, until I get the answer. Nobody can win until I know!
I’ll leave it stickied at the top of the blog and new posts will come under it, so there may be tons of entries by the time I find out.
Sweet, I liked it for that reason too. Carrie, that’s one of my faves as well. I’m partial to all the “bone” ones.
by Ann Aguirre October 23rd, 2007 at 6:45 pmI’ll go with Bred in the Bone, cause anything with bone in the title is going to catch my attention. Can’t wait to see what is picked.
by Leslee October 23rd, 2007 at 7:40 pmSalt and Bone caught my eye too. It’s sort of mysterious and makes me want to know more. But that also makes me wonder whether your marketing people will think it’s too subtle? The other one I like (and which I will vote for since no-one else has) is Zombie Mambo. But that definitely suggests comic content to me so if there’s no laughs, it may not be appropriate.
by Tumperkin October 23rd, 2007 at 8:01 pmOK, I like Burning Dreams. Can’t wait til this book is released.
by phsymom October 23rd, 2007 at 8:03 pmMy pick is Throw the Bones!
by tetewa October 23rd, 2007 at 8:37 pmI’ll pick Heathen Magic.
by Estella October 23rd, 2007 at 8:57 pmZombie Mambo.
Zombies. Doing the mambo.
What an awesome and somewhat awkward visual.
I was going to choose number four but I uh, couldn’t pronounce the last word. =/
by L October 23rd, 2007 at 10:40 pmAGH! it’s so hard to choose just one but after much consideration (read: eeny-meeney-miney-mo) I choose Eternal Flames, although Burning Dreams was a close second.
by Wendy October 23rd, 2007 at 11:57 pmOoh, Boneyard Boogie! Great list of names.
by Ann October 24th, 2007 at 2:46 amI like Bred in the Bone for some reason.
Gwyneth
by Gwyneth Bolton October 24th, 2007 at 3:39 amI like Revenant Wrath, because it sounds like a kickass video game (which I desperately need).
by Kerry Allen October 24th, 2007 at 3:41 pmI like Vicious Gifted. I’d pick it up for the title alone,it’s intriguing.
by danetteb October 24th, 2007 at 7:53 pmBoneyard Boogie is my fave – if it’s got an element of comedy in it, it will be perfect.
by Sam October 25th, 2007 at 11:25 amI like Boneyard Boogie.
by CrystalG October 25th, 2007 at 12:43 pmPhantom Fire(s), because I think it’s the most serial-izable. You could go with either Phantom or Fire(s) theme in followup titles. Also, I could see a lot of cover art possibilities.
I have no idea if it fits the book or not, but that doesn’t really factor into marketing’s decision. ;-)
Can I toss the titles up in the air and make some new ones? Like Eternal Wrath? Or Wild Magic?
Or, Ooh!—
Throw the Zombie
;-p
by Jeri October 25th, 2007 at 1:59 pmI like Throw the Bones
by Janet October 25th, 2007 at 2:00 pmDefinitely Zombie Draught.
So many of these titles suggest a different sort of book, I’m curious as to what this thing is actually about. I’m half-tempted to offer to review it for Front Street Reviews, just so I can find out!
by Susan Helene Gottfried October 25th, 2007 at 3:24 pmOops. I meant Zombie Mambo. My short-term memory is a disgrace…
by Susan Helene Gottfried October 25th, 2007 at 3:25 pmI love Eternal Flame
by Moondancer October 25th, 2007 at 4:13 pmI like Boneyard Boogie too – it’s catchy. Definitely a title you won’t forget. :)
by Karen Erickson October 25th, 2007 at 5:52 pmThrow the Bones is my fave. I love that. Reminds me of casting bone runes. Coolness…
by Cora Zane October 25th, 2007 at 6:32 pmTo be honest I liked the ones that were easier to say… As I read the list some of the titles got twisted in my tongue ;-)
by FRIGGA October 26th, 2007 at 2:59 amHappy TT13 :P
I love Salt & Bone, it’s so evocative of color, and death, and taste, and feel–love it.
(John Donne has a poem with bright hair wrapped around a bone that just makes me shudder, it’s so good)
by Megan Frampton October 26th, 2007 at 6:26 pmI like that one too, Megan. My preference would be for them to choose one of the “bone” titles, so I can then make that my theme.
Salt & Bone
Bred in the Bone
Boneyard Boogie
Throw the Bones
Good stuff.
by Ann Aguirre October 26th, 2007 at 7:42 pmI like Bare Twilight. Grabbed me as I scanned through the names.
by Anonymous October 29th, 2007 at 2:41 amYep. I’ve scanned them quite a few times now and I keep coming back to Throw the Bones.
by lainey bancroft October 29th, 2007 at 1:15 pmHi Selah sent me…Happy Halloween and good luck with the title, Dread Naught is the name of the band my son plays with here.
by Valerie October 29th, 2007 at 6:05 pmBred In the Bone
by Melissa October 29th, 2007 at 6:32 pmSelah sent me! Happy Halloween to you and yours!
by Jaycee October 29th, 2007 at 11:51 pmSelah sent me. Happy Haloweenie, dearie!
by Laura K October 30th, 2007 at 5:10 amBoneyard Boogie! That one just jumps way the hell out at ya.
by Rhian October 30th, 2007 at 10:16 amwould i pickup a book with that title knowing nothing about it – yup.
So many to choose from and so little time…I’m going with Eternal Flame
by Vicki October 30th, 2007 at 5:22 pmFirst of all, I thought the whole point of the “Touch” series was that each title would have that word in them, thus connecting them together so the reader would have no trouble identifying them as part of a series. Hm… what happened to that?
Which of the titles has the most to do with the content of the book? is my next question.
Third. I like Burning Dreams the best.
by Bonnie Dee October 31st, 2007 at 5:48 pmThe “touch” idea did not pass muster. I gather my titles sounded like romantic suspense.
Uhm, who knows? Heh. They all have something to do with it, at least peripherally.
by Ann Aguirre October 31st, 2007 at 6:00 pmHi, I just recently joined your loop, so I hope I’m okay to throw in my lot for the ARC. Loved the excerpt on your site-it rocked!
Anyway, I’m going with Burning Dreams.
thanks for the contest!
by clara bow October 31st, 2007 at 9:39 pmI am the absolute WORST at coming up with titles. I’ve never kept any of my own titles, and now refer to them by number. So with that said, I really like Dread Naught, which I’m sure is the kiss of death for that as a title.
by Jill Monroe November 1st, 2007 at 1:18 amBare Twilight is my favorite – it’s something that would make me pick up the book. Just joined your group!
by julia November 3rd, 2007 at 6:30 pmI like Object Lesson, though it does some like a book by Anne Lamott.
by Kimberly B. November 8th, 2007 at 8:40 pmI like Phantom Fire(s)
by Lisa Avila November 8th, 2007 at 8:48 pmI like Burn Effect.
by Wicked Writes November 9th, 2007 at 1:10 amI liked Bare Twilight. Teases of so many possibilities!! I liked that one alot, but it was really hard to choose!
by Lara December 19th, 2007 at 11:54 pmI’m loving Bred in the Bone.
by Melissa Blue December 20th, 2007 at 2:43 pmThis is the contest… the contest that would not end, my friend. *sings to the tune of something by the Doors*
This is the one I picked.
by Sue A. December 23rd, 2007 at 5:36 amHeathen Magic
I vote Hard Spark. I also like Burn Effect but it reminds me of Burn Notice, the TV show.
(And btw can I just say – over the past week I’ve spent almost every non-Christmas moment immersed in the ’20s. So to see Clara Bow commenting in here? Made me think I needed more caffeine for a second.)
by Lorelie December 27th, 2007 at 11:55 amI like Burn Effect. It sounds more like you, if that makes any sense.
by Ciar Cullen December 28th, 2007 at 9:38 ameternal flame is my favorite
by Carrie Taylor December 28th, 2007 at 11:20 pmI like Salt and Bone.
by LesleyW December 31st, 2007 at 7:15 amHeathen Magic is my pick.
by Kimmy Lane January 2nd, 2008 at 11:40 amI think I’ll go with Phantom Fire(s).
by Lauren L January 2nd, 2008 at 11:41 amI like Bred To The Bone.
by May January 4th, 2008 at 4:47 amBurning Dreams.
I still liked your idea of the Touch theme and think they should’ve gone with that, but whatever.
All of the titles for this series should have a similar sound, so whatever you go with this first time matters very much.
by bonnie dee January 9th, 2008 at 2:07 pmOMG, I didn’t realize I’d already responded to this post a long time ago. Although I do remember reading these titles, I certainly didn’t remember choosing one, but evidently I did. Anyway, I just picked the same one again so it must be right.
by bonnie dee January 9th, 2008 at 2:09 pmYay, Bonnie! This post has been bugging the snot out of me, sitting at 57, but I was trying to manage my quirkalicious neurosis about odd numbers on my blog. I resisted, but dang I’m happy to get this up to 60!
5. Zombie Mambo
Have a lovely day! :-)
by Tez Miller January 11th, 2008 at 5:22 amCongrats, Melissa–you are going to LOVE this one. Trust me, it’s “unputdown-able”
by azteclady February 11th, 2008 at 3:10 pmCongrats Melissa!
