Most of my books have them. I find one that encapsulates the mood of the book and then play it until I can sing every word by heart.
For GRIMSPACE, it was Song to Say Goodbye by Placebo. For WANDERLUST, it was Lost Cause by Beck. For BLUE DIABLO, the first Corine book, it was Me Muero by La 5ª Estación. I provide links so you can check the songs out if you’re unfamiliar with them.
Now here’s the song I listened to religiously while writing HELL FIRE. It’s sad, soulful, and a little heart-wrenching.

Wow…I love that song!
Going to add it to my lj song list, ipod, myspace….you get the picture!

I wonder why she has two videos. I like this one too.
by Carrie Lofty May 21st, 2008 at 7:32 pmA very pretty song.
Since you’res so motivated by music and so creative, you should think of making a book trailer. It’s a lot of fun to do and easy with Windows Movie Maker. Plus, I’m sure you need one more project to work on and obsess over.
by Bonnie Dee May 22nd, 2008 at 11:26 amWhat a beautiful song– Ali’s voice and lyrics are amazing. She’s one of those artists that just mesmerize the heck out of me. Not only can I just sit here listening to her sing for hours, but I feel compelled to watch her sing, too! And she’s barely 23 years old! So impressive.

Le sigh. I really love this song.
by Emma Petersen May 25th, 2008 at 8:39 amNow I need to read HELL FIRE because this was the very same song that inspired me to write a book called “The Last.”
