Doubleblind theme song

Love You ‘Till the End by The Pogues

You’ll note this song has a different tone than the one that embodied Wanderlust (Beck’s Lost Cause). Let’s compare lyrics.

Wanderlust = Lost Case

Your sorry eyes; they cut through bone
They make it hard to leave you alone
Leave you here wearing your wounds
Waving your guns at somebody new

Baby you’re lost
Baby you’re lost
Baby you’re a lost cause

There’s too many people you used to know
They see you coming they see you go
They know your secrets and you know theirs
This town is crazy; nobody cares

Baby you’re lost
Baby you’re lost
Baby you’re a lost cause

I’m tired of fighting
I’m tired of fighting
Fighting for a lost cause

There’s a place where you are going
You ain’t never been before
No one left to watch your back now
No one standing at your door
That’s what you thought love was for

Baby you’re lost
Baby you’re lost
Baby you’re a lost cause

I’m tired of fighting
I’m tired of fighting
Fighting for a lost cause

Doubleblind = Love You ‘Till the End

I just want to see you
When you’re all alone
I just want to catch you if I can
I just want to be there
When the morning light explodes
On your face it radiates
I can’t escape
I love you till the end

I just want to tell you nothing
You don’t want to hear
All I want is for you to say
Why don’t you just take me
Where I’ve never been before
I know you want to hear me
Catch my breath
I love you till the end (x4)

I just want to be there
When we’re caught in the rain
I just want to see you laugh not cry
I just want to feel you
When the night puts on its cloak
I’m lost for words dont tell me
Cause all I can say
I love you till the end (x5)

All I can say
I love you till the end (x3

Cause all I can say
I love you till the end (x3)

There’s a hopeful quality to Doubleblind that had been lost a bit in Wanderlust. And both these songs just tear my heart out. I wish I could talk more about the plot points that dovetail with the Lost Cause lyrics, but alas, we’ll have that post later, after the book releases and y’all have read it. But I think you’ll totally agree with me.

These are both great songs and they do just pull at the heartstrings.

I can hardly wait to read Wanderlust! I had to order a copy of Grimspace to read…as I could not find it in my huge tbr pile. Much to my favorite bookstore’s I will just keep annoying them by calling frequently see if my copy has come in. Hopefully no later than Monday!
