Dear Readers,
On July 22nd at 7:30pm, I will be at Dallas’s in NYC. Katiebabs tells me it’s a great place and perfect for our purposes, which is a reader - author jamboree. I hear they have great food at reasonable prices, tasty BBQ and yummy margaritas. They also won’t raise a brow if we’re a little rowdy and raucous.
This is an open invitation to anyone who lives in the NYC area or will be in the vicinity on July 22. This is open to authors, readers, aspiring authors, pretty much anyone who wants to show up and eat BBQ and drink margaritas with us. If you bring your copy of Grimspace along, I will happily sign it.
To sum up, you are invited to:
The author-reader BBQ rendezvous
When: July 22
Time: 7:30pm
Where: Dallas BBQ (Times Square)
241 West 42 Street
Located between 7th and 8th Avenues
I’ll make sure to get there early, so you won’t ask for our table and the servers will be like, huh?
If you think you might come, post a comment here. I need to get a headcount so I have a rough idea of how big a table to ask for! Hope to see you there.

by stacey agdern July 7th, 2008 at 8:47 pmMegan, we’d love to see you there. It should be lots of fun.
Yeah, ribs! Count me in.
by Mariana July 7th, 2008 at 9:36 pmI’ll have to think about it. I normally don’t come into the City by myself at night. Semi-whimp here. When it gets closer I’ll give you a firm yes or no. I’m tempted.
Although I will have the pleasure of getting you to sign my brand new book bag in SF at the RWA author signing.
by Ann M. July 7th, 2008 at 10:29 pmAnn M. :: I’ll most likely be taking NJ Transit train in on the Raritan Valley line. If you are coming from NJ and want to travel with me, send me an email via the address on my blogger profile.
by Christine July 7th, 2008 at 10:56 pmArg, I’d love to go. Sadly, it’s a little too much of a hike for me to get out there. You’ll have to let me know when you come out to Canada, Ann!
by Ocy July 8th, 2008 at 2:20 amHi Ann - Ribs, NYC, and great company - count us in. Both Marisa and I will be there.
by Maria Lokken July 8th, 2008 at 12:14 pmI’ve lined up some beefcake. A friend who inspired a hero in one of my books is going to be there!
He says: “Hell ya, I’ll be here. That’s like 5 blocks from my job.”
So if anybody ever wanted to meet the man who inspired Ash in Guide, this is your chance. (Bev will be so jealous!)
Beefcake? With frosting?

by Christine July 8th, 2008 at 12:30 pmSEXY MAN COMING???
Now I have to eat politely and no slurping.
I posted about our night on my blog also

Chicken
Ribs
Chicken / Rib combo
Chicken/ rib / shrimp combo
Super combo with pina colada
Side dish = fries, baked potato, rice
I lean toward saying Chicken / rib / shrimp because that covers the basis. And doesn’t everyone like fries?
Thoughts?
Hopefully, this is just to get us a table, and we can still just order whatever. I think the contract just guarantees they’ll have a table for a party this size.
Hey Ann,
I’m not going to be at RWA National so I’m extra-looking-forward to hanging with everyone. Count me in.
:)
Liz
by Liz Maverick July 8th, 2008 at 3:59 pmAnn - the party combo is big. I think what you’ve decided will work just fine. And who doesn’t like fries? I mean you could fry cardboard and it would taste goo.
by Maria Lokken July 8th, 2008 at 6:07 pmI’m so very jealous! Glad y’all get to meet each other…but *le sigh*

by dd03 July 8th, 2008 at 6:59 pmI don’t live in NYC. How do you feel about coming to Toronto? *g*
by Maya July 8th, 2008 at 11:10 pmI’m holding out for you to come to (move to/ be sucked in by) Seattle/ the PNW! Aw, you guys have fun!
by Julia July 9th, 2008 at 1:41 pmcool! I’ve never met any of you, but since it’s just down the street from me…
by Renee L July 10th, 2008 at 2:21 pmHi,
Longtime lurker, but I’m close to NYC. I’ll come!
by A.Lau July 10th, 2008 at 3:10 pmAw, man, I’m envious! Have fun, you all, and Ann, I’ll see you soon.
by Chris Marie Green July 22nd, 2008 at 11:50 amHey, thanks again for the opportunity to hang with such fun, lovely women. It was nice to meet you in person, not just on blog.
