So this is the last day of my third annual Early Christmas, where I give you an opportunity to meet authors of books I’ve loved. Next up, we have HelenKay Dimon. Here’s a holiday message she was kind enough to send my way for me to share with readers.
I love Christmas. Decorations, carols, family and friends – it all makes me giddy. Like, break-into-song giddy, but I will refrain (you’re welcome). The other reason the season means so much to me is that my husband used a holiday trip home to his parents in Hawaii almost twelve years ago to propose. Our wedding anniversary is December 12th. That makes this time of year extra special no matter where we are.I hope you all have a safe and happy season with the people you love and in the place that means the most to you. Happy Holidays!!
–HelenKay Dimon
HelenKay Dimon breathes new life into the contemporary. She writes with a fabulous sense of humor and her trademark is great banter and snappy dialogue to complement her vibrant characters and strong settings. If you enjoy Alison Kent or Susan Elizabeth Phillips, you want to try out HKD. I’ll be giving away three of her books today.
Since HKD didn’t pose a question for y’all, I shall. In light of her very sweet anniversary story, I ask you this. What’s your favorite romantic holiday memory? Keep it PG-13 please! Contest wraps up in 24, as ever. And go!
ETA: And the winner is… Patti! Email me your name and address.

The first New Years Eve with my then boyfriend/now hubby. It was just so fun, and romantic. We stood in a square with hundreds of other people, with light snowflakes falling. We had to walk through an underground pathway, to get back to the hotel. I took off my boots and slide in my stocking feet. So much fun. Thanks for making me remember :)

My Boyfriend and I spending our first Christmas together. He gave me the most beautiful heart shaped necklace that I have ever seen. And told me that his heart was mine as long as I wanted it. It was amazing!

My Husband Proposed on Christmas Eve. He invited my family and his family to a Christmas get together so both of our families were all there then later in the evening he brang out this huge wrapped box put it in the middle of the room and said for me to open it. Which I did and it was filled with cardboard and foam and newspaper after digging through it all I found another small wrapped box I opened it and inside was a jewelry box so of course I start to cry but when I opened it there was nothing inside… at this point he walked over got down on one knee pulled the ring out of his pocket then asked me if I would be his wife. Then everybody cried LOL We have been married for over 10 years.

My favorite Romantic Holiday memory is the fact that got married December 11th 1981 and got to spend my first Christmas as a “Newlywed” with my sweet husband in our tiny little loft apartment. We had no money for gifts and live in Texas so no snow, (I think it was around 95 degrees that year) it was wonderful and romantic however because I got my best Christmas present ever the love of my life that have now shared ups and downs with for 28 years today.

Well I’m divorced, but I remember the first Christmas my ex and I spent together. We were married on November 6th so we were newlyweds for our first holiday. We didn’t have a lot of money, but we did have a good holiday.

The first Christmas we lived together, we had just moved into our tiny apartment and had no furniture except a bedroom set. We did get a Christmas tree and decorated it in our empty living room.
The next Christmas he woke me up Christmas morning and proposed and put a ring on my finger! (We’ve been married 17 years!)

My daughter’s 1st Christmas. She loved the boxes more than the toys themselves.

Not got a romantic memory, yet. But it’s always nice to read other people’s stories.

Don’t have one. It’s very sad.

My most romantic holiday memory is from one of the first years we were married. I’d taken a job as seasonal help at a retailer, and while it was relatively fun, I’d come home cranky and exhausted. My husband surprised me upon my return one evening with a fresh tree and a freshly made chicken pot pie. Mmm… :)

My 1st Christmas married to my hubby, he bought us a set of 10 speed bicycles. The day after Christmas we rode to his brothers house….from Camarillo to Oxnard…over 10 miles and I so so tired and sore I could hardly move for a week. His brother had to load our bicycles in his truck and give us a ride home….It was a fun Christmas and one I will always treasure.

I don’t have a romantic Christmas memory to share, but one of my favorite memories was when I got a plane ticket for Amsterdam.

Oddly enough my big romantic Christmas memory centers around getting a sweet little stuffed penguin from a guy back in high school. I can’t abide stuffed animals, but he didn’t know that, and he’d picked it out specially for me–it and the note attached to it were so precious that I couldn’t bear to let him know that it wasn’t my kind of thing. I still have it, even though I haven’t seen him in years.

I was married for twenty years and I can’t think of one
. No draw for me. So commenting to say I’m 3/4 of the way through Skin Game and I’m loving it. Can’t wait for Skin Tight.

My husband is not a holiday person, no romantic gifts or gestures. The only thing that we do is once every holiday we turn our liv rm into a bdrm and have only tree lights and mantle lights on. We do this every year and we look forward to it. We play Christmas music too and of course have a few champagne toasts to the holidays. Hopefully an ongoing memory!! Happy Holidays to all!! Thanks, Sue
P.S. Keeping it Pg 13, you have to guess what we really are doing !! LOL!!!

I’ve had boyfriends during the holidays, but none really stand out as the most romantic. I do hope that one day I’ll be able to experience what it’s like to have someone who loves me and wants to do something special for me. I think getting engaged on Christmas would be my ultimate romantic holiday experience.

A single red rose as surprise the first Valentines we were together. Totally unexpected and uncharacteristic.
