I read reviews before and after reading the books that I choose because sometimes it is amusing to see where reviews differ from my own thoughts about a books quality. I so far have pretty much agreed with the people who do rave reviews on authors that already read, not so much with reviews on some of the authors works that are new to me. My taste is very eclectic but am inclined to read and then make up my own mind if will read anything else by one particular author.

I do the same thing. If I’m not sure if I should get a book, I like to read the reviews, especially the low rated, to see what others thought.

I sometimes like to see what rating they give a book that I am interested in. I don’t want to know too much about the book if I plan on reading it but sometimes reading what reviewers say helps me decide if I want the book to start with.
