A contest that’s totally not about me

First, I have to say, whee, I have a book out today. YAY ENCLAVE! Go, ENCLAVE, go! You can learn more here and watch a trailer here.

But that’s enough about me.

WINNER: Laura Pilant! Email me, please.

hollow haunted hidden

See these sexy books? I looooove them. I glommed the first two, and then I shamelessly begged hinted on Twitter that I would do crazy things for an arc of book three to see how the epic, haunting love story between Caspian and Abbey ended. Incredibly, Jessica Verday responded by mailing an arc to me in LA, where I was heading for RT last week. I read THE HIDDEN on the plane. Soooo good. So this contest serves three purposes:

1) I don’t have to talk about ENCLAVE. (Just buy it and read it, okay?)
2) I get to go HAHA, I read THE HIDDEN already. How cool is that?
3) I hook up one lucky, lucky reader with all three books.

You read that right. I’ll send you copies of THE HOLLOW & THE HIDDEN, and then I’ll mail you my gently-read copy of THE HAUNTED. Trust me, you want to know how it ends. *dreamy sigh* If you like romantic stories, spooky ones, mysterious ones, books that make your throat thick and capture your imagination in the best possible way? Then these are for you.

To enter, answer this question in comments: how far would you go to be with the one you love?

+1 entry if you tweet the contest and post a link in your tweet (then show me you did in comments)
+1 entry if you follow me, @msannaguirre and/or @jessverday on Twitter

That’s a total of three entries possible per person. Yes, if you already follow, that’s +1. I’ll post the winner after I get back from vacation, oh, let’s say April 20th. Get to it, people!

    1. How far would I go? Let me tell you far I went. I moved halfway across the world.

    3. Already follow you! :-)

  2. I’d go as far as to…*share living space* …and I’m really territorial about my living space! ;P It wouldn’t matter where that living space was if it was love.

I’m lazy so I just retweeted. And I already follow you.

  3. Katie says:

Sadly, I can be very self destructive with love. I will try to change myself to be perfect for someone else. It is a very bad quality and I am working on it.

  8. Mia says:

I’ve been to the depths of hell and back already for the one I love. If there was a massive twister or some kind of break in the space-time continuum, I would go anywhere on the planet to be with him. Just not outer space, I don’t think I could be okay with the no gravity, no oxygen thing.

I follow both you and Jessica Verday on Twitter and I think I may have accidentally posted the link twice. Hehe. Strange things happen before I have coffee. :)

    +1 I Tweeted http://twitter.com/#!/fiktshun/status/57934751268483072

    +1 I follow @JessVerday and now a new follower @MsAnnAguirre

+1 Answer I would go to the ends of the earth for the love of my life. (I already moved across the continent for him. Several times.) But I would also give up my dreams and put love first, because my dreams would be meaningless without the love of my life.

  15. 1. How far would I go for love? You cannot quantify love, although we use terms like “I love you a lot” or “I love you more than life itself!” If you notice, these are all vague representations in terms of quantifiable comparisons, because, in reality – there is no measure for love. And if love cannot be measured, how would one measure the desire to be with the person you love, when you are, in fact, in love? So my answer to your question is, I will go wherever love takes me. Be it to the end of the world, be it beyond the stars, be it beneath the Earth to my grave, or the depths of Hell. For love, real and true, no distance is too far, I would go anywhere.

  17. Ashleigh Swaine says:

Love is the most important thing in life to me, to me it makes us who we are and shapes our development and how we look at things, so as far as I see it, i would go extremely far for the one I love. I would sacrifice everything else on Earth as long as I was promised that I could keep him forever. I would lie for him, die for him, move a million miles away from everyone else that mattered to me, as long as he was by my side. He already knows all of this, he is my world and nothing matters when we’re together!

“How far will you go to be with the one you love?” I haven’t ever been in love but I do love my family, friends and pets. For my family I have stood by them when they were being left behind. For my friends I have let them go when they needed to learn who they needed to be and for my furry best friends I have put them down when they were in pain even though I still miss them. I hope that whenever the time comes I show whoever it is that I love them enough. ♥

First of all, I love my husband with all my heart. I would follow him anywhere he chooses to go in life, other than prison because that might be a little crazy. So the answer is a two part-er, I will go as far as I need to and follow him anywhere.

  28. Kacie Russell says:

What would I do for love? Why it’s such a silly question. I would climb the tallest mountain, look through the leaves of the tallest tree on that mountain to see my love. I can’t go through the depths of Hell because I can’t find the entrance. I can’t catch him falling from heaven because he is completely alive and not a fallen angel. But in retrospect, when would I have to do this for love? I need to be presented with a problem first. Say I were about to lose my love. Goodness, I’d be devestated. Nothing would keep me from pleasing him. I would write a hundred poems to express my love for him. I would make positive that my body is in the best condition it could possibly be for him. I would buy him the most expensive collectible knives to see him smile. I would make him dinner like a five star chef, though I doubt he would want me to do so because my cooking is not that great. I would get into play fights with him just to see that sparkle in his eyes. I would get him his favorite type of dog so he could wrestle with him at home or at the park. There’s no height I couldn’t reach to see him smile. I believe the most dangerous object you can give to someone is your soul. Body, mind, and soul are the most precious belongings you can have. When you entrust it into someone else, it can be broken in a split second. To give them your heart? That’s something that gets wear and tear as you go through the trials of love to find “the one”. It’s made to be tough; your soul gets one chance. Once you give him your soul, that’s it.

  30. Regina Wamba says:

Oh, and How far would I go for love? How far have I been!!

Well, I got married at 18, so we are going on 7 years!! for the first three of those years, our first daughter, a whole lot of stress, and the fact that maybe I might have to move to Africa to be with the love of my life.. (immigration, deportation…(long story)), mounds of lawyers, but through all that we have been through, I would do anything to see him smile, and laugh.. for he is the one that helps support me, and keeps my hopes high when they are down, and he is the one that loves his children and family endlessly. I would go anywhere, and do anything for him and our life together… :)

  31. Chloe P. says:

This is a difficult question to answer, because I’ve never been in a relationship or anything; thus, I can only answer speculatively. I would do anything or be anything for that person. I would do pretty much anything within my abilities to be with them and stay with them. I would give them all of my heart and hope that they would do the same for me.

    3. If you are speaking in terms of traveling, then I would go as far as around the world as many times as I needed for the one I truly and deeply love; however, if you are not speaking in terms of traveling, then I would go to the very depths of the great oceans and swim among the strange, unique beasts that live there. I would dive off of a monumental cliff into the splashing waves of the teal, opaque-like sea to be with the one my heart desires. It would be worth every challenge to find my love and be with him. It was meant by God for us to be together and asking in prayer for his wisdom, strength, and courage would get me there.

i would do ANYTHING for the one i love

“How far would I go to be with the one I love?”

The question seems quite simple but when you think about it, it’s hard to answer ’cause you have hundreds or even thousands of possibilities. Well, I haven’t been in love with someone yet but when I find the right guy, I’ll definitely do anything for him because I believe that love knows no boundaries and anything is possible with love. You can do anything as long as you’re with the person that you love. I’ll cite a quotation taken from The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri: “L’amor che move il sole e l’altre stelle.” I wanna feel that kind of love. “The love that moves the sun and the other stars”. Love is the most powerful force in the world. And someday, when I feel it, I will do anything to preserve it.♥

PS: I followed you both on twitter :)

  52. Sarah says:

I used to be the girl who would go anywhere and do anything for the one she loved even if it meant my own unhappiness… Myheart was broken in that process so now I have a tendancy to be much more guarded. I’m with a great guy now who appreciates me and loves me and I would say that I would do almost anything within reason for him. I’ve learned from my past that sometimes you just need to do what’s best for yourself.

Sacrifice and compromise are important in any relationship. Love needs to be practical as well as passionate.

  55. Nadz says:

i would be more willing to go farther to be with the one i love whether our journey has up and down,as long as we are together,to face it.And i rather sacrife unimportant things to be with the one i trully love, because love is much more worth and powerful value.

p.s:sorry for comment twice.the other was quite no right.

  56. Ashley Christine says:

What would I do to be with the one I loved? Well, I’m only seventeen, and even though most people my age would say they know what love is, I don’t think they’ve been around long enough to know what TRUE love is. Same goes for me. So, instead of talking about a soulmate, I will talk about what I would do for my family, because I love them, and they are the most important people in my life. My dad is an amazing man. He sacrifices so much to provide for his wife and children, and he’ll never know how much I love and appreciate him. My mother is the sweetest person you could ever meet. She’s like, 5 foot nothing (I’m taller than her) and she’s always smiling and looks so cute! She’s always there for us kids without complaint. My little sister is one year younger than me, and even though we do fight a lot, nobody is closer to me than she is. In every picture of us together when we were little, we were always holding hands, it was just automatic. Lastly, is my little brother. He’s 12 now, but I remember when he was just a baby I liked to think that he was my own. Even though there is a larger age gap between us, him and I are very close. Now, what would I do to be with them? ANYTHING. That’s what.

  57. Karla Vollkopf says:

    Oh, that’s a very generous giveaway! :)
if it’s international, please count me in.
I heard this series is perfect for supernatural fans, so I really would love to check it out!

  60. Brittany says:

I would do anything to be with the one I love is a common response. But I would trade my own life for theirs. I would find a way to be with them in another lifetime if they died. Or if there was no way to do that I’d join them in death. If I were a ghost I’d find a way to make myself human again even if it’s for one year, day, hour, or minute I’d do it in a heartbeat. If they did die I wouldn’t find someone else to be with like most people. I couldn’t bear the thought of doing that. It’s someone you care for, love, and cherish. Giving up so easily and moving on like that to me is not love. You would go to any possible means to be with the one you love again. They are your partner, soulmate, and best friend. It’s like losing half your body if they would move on you just simply can not see yourself living without them. I would sacrifice my most precious items if it meant being with them forever and having them with me. Materialistic things can’t ever compare to the one you love. They are your heart, mind, body, and soul and if you love them as much as you say you do you’d do anything, give up anything to be with that person.

  61. sherlyn says:

I’m only fifteen, but I really loved The Hollow and though I’ve never dated or anything, I’ve had a crush on someone (one that lasted for almost a year) whom I think didn’t deserve my affection at all. I only realised this after I “woke up” this year. In addition, as I am of Asian heritage, my parents are the “traditional type” who don’t approve of these things… but I strongly believe that when I find “The One”, nothing will stop me, no matter how old I am or where I have to go to be with him. I’d try to make my parents “see the light” and accept my decision if they don’t like him, and if they don’t, well, I guess I can’t do much now, but I’ll be sure to make him a part of my life when I’m an adult. I think I wouldn’t be able to bear it if the person I loved so deeply left me even for a short while, so those few years of waiting to be with him will be an absolute torture! I think I’ll probably rely on Abbey and Caspian’s relationship to keep me going!

I don’t have a Twitter account, so I’ll just post this and cross my fingers(: You’re an awesome author, Ms Verday!
