YA book announcement

vanguard-temp-coverIn case you don’t follow social media, I wanted to talk about my new book deal. If you scroll down in that article, you’ll see that I’ve sold a novel set in the Razorland series. This isn’t a sequel in the traditional sense; rather I would call it a companion novel, like the novella I wrote about Thimble and Stone.

This story will center around Tegan of the Staff aka Doctor Tegan, and the warrior-poet who loves her, James Morrow. Gavin will probably also join their adventures and possibly Millie, the girl who saved the world and didn’t even know it. Szarok may put in an appearance too and maybe one of the small folk. I have in mind this will be an epic sort of river / high seas adventure that will let me show you much more of the world than you saw even in Horde.

But Deuce and Fade deserve their rose-wreathed cottage, so even if they show up, it’ll be as secondary characters who live in Rosemere, like Stone and Thimble. This book is slated for release in Spring of 2017 and I hope you’re excited for it. As for me, I’m nervous about venturing back into this world again, but I’m tremendously chuffed, too–that you loved Tegan and Morrow so much, you begged so hard for their story and their happy ending.

This isn’t the last story I’ll write in the Razorland world but it is the last one that could be considered dystopian. You’ll understand more as time wears on.

Feel free to ask questions in comments if you have them, and please admire the lovely temporary cover made for this book by Nospheratt. Isn’t it amazing?! It will grace my site until we have actual art. (To be honest, if you added an arm behind the name plate in a clawed, torn sleeve, I would be THRILLED if that was my actual cover. That’s how great I think this is and so in line with the other books.)

Oh, and to celebrate this sale, I’ll give away one copy of ANY of my books, released or coming soon. If it’s not out yet, I’ll preorder it for you. So comment away, yes, it’s international, and I’ll name the winner this time next week.

ETA: BRANDY, commenter # 19, you have won! Congratulations.

I’ll be on the lookout for Vanguard since I have the rest of the series on my tbr pile. I thought that was the actual cover it matches the order covers.

  2. Ellie says:

Oh I would LOVE it if you did a prequel of Stalker! How he came into power and his thoughts and what not.

  3. Gaynol says:

Hooray! So happy that we get another story set in the Razorland world! I’m going to go back and re read the whole trilogy (again) Hooray (insert Ketmit the Frog wild arm flail here)

    • Ann Aguirre says:

Tonally, this book will be different, though, since the fate of mankind no longer hangs in the balance. But will be epic in the sense that you get to see so much of the world, if that makes sense.

  4. Lea Krnjeta says:

This is awesome news! I look forward to more Tegan and her adventures with Morrow. Also, I hope for a glimpse of Deuce and Fade. Yay! :-D

I am so excited you will finally be telling the rest of Tegan and Morrow’s story. The Razorland trilogy has been one of my all time favorite reads so I know I will not be disappointed. Waiting patiently till 2017-is it here yet?

  11. Mary Hall says:

So excited :-D The Razorland Trilogy has been one of my favorite series since I first read them. I have already re-read them twice :-D I still wish there could be a Stalker story, but I don’t really know how that’d work out because of what happened in Horde.

  12. Jill Dempsey says:

I can’t wait! I recommend this series constantly to kids at school. I actually wish I hadn’t read it yet so I could read it for the first time again!

  18. Micala Newland says:

YAY! I’m so excited! The Razorland books are literally my favorite and I can’t wait to read more! Especially if Deuce and Fade might be in it!! I’m also freaking out that you said this won’t be the last story! It’s much appreciated that you write more for the series, instead of just sticking with the three main books! Stay awesome, Ann!!

    Love this!

  22. Amanda Peters says:

I like your idea for the cover, can you not just request it, it’s better to have something you like and that fits than have something else and never really like it. Not like your asking for all yellow m&m’s in your dressing room! ;-p can’t wait for the new book! Best of luck.

  23. Megan Maier says:

    Yay!!!! I love this series!!!

  27. Finally! Actually I was wondering what happened with Tegan and James :D But I’m so sad about Stalker too, I mean, he was my fav character, he deserved to be loved :'(

  28. Daniela says:

Hi, I was wondering, is there going to be a Razorland box set?

  29. Laura K says:

When i read that there was a new book coming out i literally screamed (and woke everyone in my house… Oops). I can’t remember the last time i felt this excited for a new book and i have to admit that this series has become my favourite of all time.
I read Horde about a week ago ( i know it’s pretty late..sorry) and i can honestly say it was the best conclusion to a series that i have ever read. It has now left me in a reading slump as i can find no other book good enough to follow it but its worth it.
I am beyond excited to hear that this book will continue with the story of Tegan and Morrow as i felt very connected to their story. Tegan was my favourite character (after Deuce and Fade of course) as I really bonded with her, due to the fact that i dream of becoming a doctor. I look forward to reading from her perspective.

It’s going to be a long wait until 2017 but it sure will be worth it!

P.S. I want you to know that you are a fantastic writer and my heart was broken and reassembled about 1000 times in this series, which is rare. I am happy to hear that Horde wasn’t the last book in this unique world which you have built. ( Also i hope i didn’t come off as creepy, i’m just so excited right now!).

  30. Viola says:

A very interesting read. it’s a great book. I love it! Thank you for sharing.

  31. Ruvni says:

is there any chance to read “Horde” in german? Will it ever be released in german? I loved “Enclave” and “Outpost” soooo much. But my english is not so good… so i would be very happy to read it in german! =)

  32. Crystal says:

I am so happy I decided to stalk your page today because this literally made my day!! I must have read all three Razorland books 20 times, there’s no part I don’t love and to know we have more of that world on the way…. I was really hoping with that ending we’d see more of Tegan!! Now I just have to wish time will move faster or I can meet you at a signing soon!! Keep up the great work, your fans are waiting :)

  33. Elliott says:

Whaw, what a choc when I read that, I almost done a heart attack ! I’m really happy razorland is not finish yet ! And happy again that the story will be about Tegan. I remember I wanted to know more about her when I finished “Horde”. Well I just have to wait. But I’m so anxious, because as I’m french, the book will need to be translate first and that take a long time too so I’m afraid I’ll need to wait more again. Do you have an idea of who is the translator (maybe Charlotte Faraday) and when the release date can be ? Hope you’ll se that an answer, thanks, bye.

  34. Mandy says:

I cannot wait! I wish we didn’t have to wait until 2017, but it will be worth it. I read this books to my twelve year old son (just something we do) & he LOVED them. Cannot wait to tell him about Vangard. I also recommend the Razorland series to my students all the time. Thank you for writing such a wonderful story!

  35. Josh pope says:

I love all the Razorland books. And would love to see a movie some time.

  36. Tara says:

Ohmygosh I absolutely adore this series! I finished Enclave in the sixth and just recently picked it up again for another read because I just found out about Outpost and Horde (a couple years later, I’m in tenth grade now). I don’t think any amount of words can express how much I love these books. I finished all three in the course of one weekend. I simply cannot put into words my obsessive over the words and divinity that engulfs this series. With any hope can I aspire to become this good of an author. I’m sixteen but that doesn’t stop me from long hours at my computer typing a way. I’m legit so pumped to read more from Ann Aguirre. Oh and btw Dystopia, Sci Fi, and Realistic fiction are my fav genres by far. And SPOILER ALERT: I pretty much bawled my eyes out when Stalker died. I honestly whipped out my iPhone and sent this to a group OMG GUYS I’M CRYING!!! STALKER DIED, NOOOOOOO! HELP ME I CAN’T EVEN!! and all my friends flipped out, I’m still mourning over his death and plan to wear all black the next couple of school days to honor his death. Your books remind of the Hunger Games and Divergent and Matched as well as Life as we Knew it and the Scorpion Rules and I loved those all.PLEASE keep up your amazing work, thank you- your biggest fan by far, Tara R. G.

  37. Tara says:

Oh yeah, and I really, really hope this series will become a movie! At least Enclave. I think many of peers have given up on reading but once they view the movie, they’ll pick up some copies. Even though I imagine and visualize the story as I read, I’d love to watch it on the big screen. Just keep an open mind if you’re ever offered the opportunity to get this book screened. Thank you for your time reading this, Tara R. G.

  38. Maria says:

I love this series (it would also be a great movie) and I was thinking to myself that I wanted this series to continue in some way. Then I see this and I will be so exited when this book comes out. I would also like to thank you because I have never really liked reading until I read this series.

  39. Breaunnah Colvin says:

I loved the first three books in the razorland series. Love love loved them! I couldn’t put them down! Will these amazing books ever become a movie?? That’d be amazing! Thank you for writing such great novels, I’m very anxious to read Vanguard.

  40. Keith says:

So glad there’s more to the story. I have told so many people about Razorland series… I just can’t help it. I. LOVE those books. Honestly I would love a new ten book series with Deuce and Fade, but I get it. I’ll read anything you write.

  41. Katie says:

Thank god!! I’m so excited to see this I was just waiting for you to add on to this series. These books inspired me to have courage on a day to day basis. You are an amazing author and I will definitely be looking for this next book and any others to come in the series
