Please visit all these generous authors! Now admire their pretty covers.
All books in the lottery are signed. Here’s how this works. There will be “hot” times to comment, but you must comment often because you never know when you might get lucky. This contest runs until I have announced ALL the winners, at least one a day. No spamming, no random links. Your comment must contain content and pertain to the books or something a prior commenter has already said. Once I announce a winner, I will “reset” the contest, and we’ll begin again for the books left in the lottery.
Everyone understand how we play? I’ll start us off with a question, but feel free to let the conversation evolve. However, if you’re coming in later, and you can’t think of anything to say on your first comment, you can always answer this for your comment. (Do not answer it repeatedly; that will not win you anything.)
Which five (5) of these books are you most excited to read and why? Basically you make a wish-list for me, and I’ll regularly announce winners. So that’s it. There are some lovely, lovely books up for grabs, and a HUGE number of winners to be found.
By release day, April 6th, I will have given away ALL of these books. That just leaves one final giveaway: a $50 gift certificate to the bookstore of your choice. Anyone who has commented to date will be entered in that; the reset function doesn’t count for the grand prize, and each comment counts as one entry. The no spamming rule still applies, though. And go for it!
First winner: Robin K & Wicked Enchantment!
2nd winner: Michelle (of See Michelle Read) & Proof by Seduction
3rd winner: MamaKitty & Take Me
4th winner: Ayla_F & Laid Bare
5th winner: Raelena & Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
6th winner: Mariska & Wicked Game / Bad to the Bone
All winners email me their name & mailing info. You have one week to claim your prize, and then I re-draw.
My 5 are:
Mind Games – sounds good
Eternal Hunter – I love Cynthia Eden’s vamp books and havent had the chance to get this one yet
Wicked Enchantment – love her books too but havent had the chance to get this one, looking forward to the new series
On the Steamy Side – Have not read any of Louisa’s books yet but they come highly recommended and sound great.
Lead Me On – havent yet had the chance to read Victoria’s books either but they have been on my wishlist and highly recommended
First five I don’t have yet and want:
I’ll Be Slaying You – Cynthia Eden fan, from the Secrets shorts and then her vamp series. Now have Eternal Hunger to read, so of course I want this arc.
Marked – Loved Naughton’s Stolen series, and this new series is right up my alley.
The Vampire’s Quest – Fan of Vivi’s from way back and into this series.
His Darkest Stone – Saw this new author Juliana Stone posting about this on her agent blog, read more about it, and definitely want to try her book, a genre I really like.
Crux by Moira Rogers – Keep seeing good things about this one and did look good, so another author I need to try.
Another great list this time around, Ann, and can’t wait to read Hellfire, too.
I’m really looking forward to reading :
*Crux – b/c I adore Bree/Donna’s work…they just create brilliant paranormal plots…their characters are just incredibly easy to love and the storyline is so absorbing.
*Hunter’s Need – I’m totally addicted to Shiloh’s work…I’ve been buying & reading up all of her backlist titles..her stand alone titles are simply exquisite. The sexual tension and the heat in the books are smokin’ hot!
*Laid Bare – Lauren is still a new author for me…I haven’t read enough of her work and I have a lot of her titles on my wishlist. The blurbs & excerpts I’ve read have totally captured my attention.
*I’ll Be Slaying You – I just recently started reading Cynthia’s work…I’m a devoted fan now that’s all I have to say. I read Immortal Danger & Eternal Hunter and am totally captivated by her writing.
*Doing It The Hard Way – I’ve never read TJ’s work…thanks for introducing me this new author…I just read the blurb for this storyline and am thrilled to find another great paranormal romance author to read.
Thanks for the great giveaway to celebrate your upcoming release. 😀
I didn’t see it on the list but can’t wait for “Hell Fire” I think I’ve read the excerpt like 5x.
Jess Granger new series that I haven’t started yet but its defintely on my list of must have.
Cynthia Eden becasue I own EVERYTHING she has written, can’t wait.
Carolyn Crane also a new author for me that I’ve been wanting to start reading.
Love the contest and all the books listed.
Wow! What a list!! I have never read most of the authors on the list so it makes it hard to choose.
I have had Moira Rogers on my Wishlist for a long time.
Carolyn Crane’s Mind Games looks really great.
I’ve been wanting to read Elisabeth Naughton for a long time. Her books look so interesting.
Jess Granger’s Beyond the Shadows looks like an interesting premise. I really liked her entry in in the pimping challenge too.
Erica Hayes’ Shadowglass sounds like a great book. I’d like to give it a try.
I have to add that I love Jeri Ready-Smith. She would be on the top of my list if I didn’t already have both her books signed. 😀
Katie
Wow – what a great list! You’ve sure got a lot of nice friends!
Let’s see, besides Hellfire, my wishlist of books I don’t have would be:
1. Mindgames (Carolyn Crane) – b/c I love CC’s blog and the premise of the book sounds great.
2. Shadow Glass (Erica Hayes) – I’ve got the first book and I’d love to read them back-to-back.
3. On the Steamy Side (Louisa Edwards) b/c I love a good contemporary!
4. Mistress by Mistake (Maggie Robinson) – I saw the blurb and thought it sounded great (and the cover is gorgeous!)
5. Wicked Enchantment (Anya Bast) – I’ve had this series on my wishlist for some time.
Thanks!!!
There are so many awesome books on this list. It gives me a happy. LOL
My 5 choices would be: Wicked Enchantment, Hunter’s Need, Wicked Game, Bad to the Bone and His Darkest Hunger.
I love urban fantasy and paranormal books. All of these authors are new to me and there is nothing I enjoy more then seeing fantasy and alternative realities through different authors eyes. The genre is so flexible and saturated in unique content that I do not think I will ever run out of books to be read and authors to discover.
OOOOh Awesome contest! what a stack of great loot! 😮
I have some of them in my to be read pile just waiting for me, the 5 most looking forward to
include:
Hell Fire
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
Sanctuary
His Darkest Hunger
Marked
Thanks for the great giveaway to mark your new release!! 😀
Moira Rogers Crux: Because I have heard such great things about it
Carolyn Crane Mind Games: I like her blog so I can’t wait for the book
Anya Bast Wicked Enchantment:Honestly it was the cover, it makes me want to read it
Victoria Dahl Lead Me On: I have been hearing great things and I would love to check her out
Jess Granger
Beyond the Shadows Sounds like a cool concept and I wanna read it
I’m always on the look out for new authors and titles…what are some of the ways y’all find out about new talent?
Anna,
I use http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/ to find authors and their titles. Search for an author you like, once in their page scroll down to view a list of other authors whom others have searched for (Visitors to this page also looked at these authors).
I too find new authors via amazon recommendations, but I also find them by reading the recommendations made from the authors I read. 😉
I’ve heard of this website before and have used it in the past. GREAT resources and information on tons of books and authors!
I use shelfari.com to list the books I’ve read, want to read, etc. You can look at others shelves as well as join groups. I’m admin for a group called Vampires, Witches, Weres and all that which is a paranormal readers paradise! More recommendations then one can read in a lifetime!
I find out about new talent through book blogs. I have my own book blog on Blogger, and I follow others through Google Friend Connect, so I can see everyone’s new postings on my “dashboard.” True, most bloggers only talk about new releases, but this is how I find out about awesome books!
Find out about new books also from Fantastic Fiction site, blogs, Goodreads, Bitten By Books site, authors websites and Paperbackswap, pretty much anyplace I can find to go to check out new authors and reading material for me!! Spending way too much time creating all my Wishing and To Buy Lists instead of reading my TBR’s!!!

😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥
Aw, Jackie. Thank you for the BBB pimpage. : )
Wow, I’m impressed by how many sites have lists for books. Going to have to check those out.
Wow, Ann! Monster give away – thanks – and whee upcoming release!
Elisabeth Naughton’s Marked – it’s the new series inspired by Greek myth right? Louisa Edwards and Jill Myles books, Victoria Dahl’s, and Juliana Stone’s books. That’s my list. As for the why?
Elisabeth’s – love classical mythology. Love – know way too much about it. Like, a scary amount. So, a book based on it? Must be win.
Louisa’s book – food! Sex! Relationships! Um, that’s pretty much self explanatory for me, but I love talking food, reading about food, etc, and especially romance.
Jill’s book – I’ve been hearing a lot about it, and the premise seems cute. Would definitely enjoy getting my hands on it.
Victoria’s book – I’ve got the others in the series and somehow don’t have this one yet, so my collection must be complete!
As for Juliana – she’s a new to me author, and I’d like to try her books. It’s important to expand horizons right? 😉
Anna – The main ways I find books are through Amazon’s recommendations based on what I have read and what my favorite authors are reading.
One would think that I would count on my friend’s reading lists more, but I don’t. I think my taste is too varied.
Katie
I love finding new books through the Amazon recommended books as well. I also know that my favorite authors will help promote other authors through their blogs, and that is a great way to find really good authors as well!
I’ve found BBB a great place to find new authors to read 🙂
Plus I have approx 15 RSS feeds from authors or review sites. Finding this keeps me in book reading material lol
What an awesome giveaway this is.
Yeah, more BBB love.
Reviewing there has killed my TBR pile. I keep buying books but have no time to read them, LOL. I had Lead Me On since it came out and just finished it last weekend.
My most anticipated books out of the above are:
Cynthia Eden’s I’ll Be Slaying You – Just bought Eternal Hunter and I’m enthralled. Can I say “more”? *g*
Shadowglass by Erica Hayes – Gritty, dark, magical, seductive – I want to delve into the world created by the words.
Carolyn Crane’s Mind Games – I’ve heard a ton of things – all good – about this book.
Moira Rogers’s Crux – Great things have been said.
Juliana Stone’s His Darkest Hunger – A new to me author too and from what I’ve read of the blurb, sounds promising!
Woot Woot! This sounds like a great lottery.Great way to keep us busy while waiting for Hell Fire to come out
My top 5, most wanted? Here it comes:
Carolyn Crane – Mind Games: I’ve been waiting for months for this book, It sounds awesome and I can’t wait to read it. Well one way or the other It will get into my handws 😉
Joely Sue Burkhart – Rose of Shanhasson : I’ve read such great reviews of this book I would love to read it.
Erica Hayes – Shadowglass: I’m very curious about this book I’ve read Shadowfae and I would like to read this one as well
Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succubi: What’s not to love? Hot cover, interesting back cover summary and great reviews…really do I need more reasons why? 😉
Shiloh Walker- Hunter’s Need: This is a book I’ve been waiting for, for a long time too. Snipets of this book got me very interested.
(Also is the contest open internationally?)
I recently found a website called Savvy Readers http://www.savvyreaders.com/ where you can actually select a category + type of plot and the search engine basically gives you a huge list of titles that contain what you’re looking. I’m totally hooked on it now and have found numerous new authors and titles b/c of the nifty search engine.
I’m going to have to check this site out. It sounds really interesting!
Thanks!!
Thanks for the savvy readers site Anna, i’ll check it out also!
Oh wow, that’s awesome!! What a great idea!! I’ve been looking for new books to read, but I stick to certain types of books. I can’t wait to see what books they have listed!
It depends on the individual author. They are mailing their books, so I can’t say definitively yes or no. I know Carolyn Crane said she would ship anywhere, but most didn’t comment on it, one way or another.
Thanks Robin…I’m definitely going to check this site out. 😀
Hey Katie,
I can relate to that…my reading preferences are all over the place too…it does help with the Amazon purchase based recommendations. I also search for new info on various blogs…they’re usually a great source for new material. 🙂
😀 All of them sound good just can’t pick 5. Good Luck All!
Crux – I read it via ebook and loved it so much I want to be able to fondle it’s pages *wink*
Shadowglass – ’cause I raved about Shadowfae and this is the natural progression
Mind Games – Carolyn’s blog is so snarky and strangely in synch with my thoughts that her book must surely link directly to my dark soul!
Twist – ’cause I’ve never heard of it until this blog post and the blurb is awesome!
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi – Hello! Have you seen that cover! HOT
Thanks so much for the great giveaway. All the very best for your new release – it looks fab!
I have never read any of the authors, but LOVE finding new authors.
My wishlist would be:
1. Lead Me On – have read great things of this book, would love to read
2. Mind Games – sounds like a stunning read.
3. Leave Me Breathless – great reviews!
4. Rose of Shanhasson – very intrigued by this book
5. Laid Bare – again amazing reviews.
Oooh, book wish list, I love those:
Moira Rogers: both of these books. I keep hearing about her on Twitter and its got me interested. I currently have both books on my ‘check out’ list.
Carolyn Crane: Mind Games. A heroine who is a hypochondriac. Oh this I have got to know more about…lol
Cynthia Eden: I’ll Be Slaying You. I loved the glimpse of Dee we got in Eternal Hunter. I’m glad Dee gets her own story, and we get more of Night Watch.
TJ Michaels: Doing It The Hard Way. I’ve never read any of this author’s work, but the excerpt has got me really interested.
Lead Me On by Victoria Dahl is one of the best books I’ve read this year. Seriously. It was refreshing to see a hero who was rough around the edges yet better, as a whole, than the clean-cut guys. I have all sorts of tattoos and piercings and get the Crazy Eyes when I’m out in public. I also speak 5 languages and am a walking encyclopedia of useless knowledge. Seeing someone like me represented was a wonderful treat. : )
Ooh…I’m supposed to be picking books…
Lauren Dane – Laid Bare (I’m getting a reviewers copy of this and am so excited!!!!)
Carolyn Crane – Mind Games (The buzz around this has been huge)
Juliana Stone – His Darkest Hunger (I’m a cover slut. I’ll admit it.)
Jess Granger – Beyond the Shadows (The reviews have been amazing so far)
Erica Hayes – Shadowglass (I have a thing for demons, lol)
Hey Jackie,
Instead of the crazy eyes I usually get “you so don’t look like a person who’d get tattoos” (at which point I roll my eyes 🙄 ) I love tatts…what kind do you have?
Yeah, I work in the admin offices at a Hyatt, so anytime part of one peeks out, things get interesting. 😈
I have an ankh on my hip, a horrible lizard on my other hip (thank you, teenage angst, for providing me with this one!), a heart with flames and wings between my shoulder blade, and a dragon on the left side of my back. The dragon is by far my favorite. I’m getting the heart redone because it looks cheap next to the dragon.
My picks would be: Gentlemen prefer Succubi, Cruz, Shadowglass, Beyond the Shadows and Bad to the Bone! Congrats on your release looking forward to this as well!
Moira Rogers Crux & Sanctuary
Carolyn Crane Mind Games
Anya Bast Wicked Enchantment
Victoria Dahl Lead Me On
I absolutely can not wait to read Hell Fire!!
What an awesome contest! Thank you!!
Hmm…My top 5 would have to be:
Crux by Moira Rogers
Laid Bare by Lauren Dane
Mind Games by Carolyn Crane
Wicked Game by Jeri Smith-Ready
Shadowglass by Erica Hayes
All of these are in my Wish List but, I just haven’t had a chance to get them.
Cynthia Eden – Read Eternal Hunter on kindle and would love to have it signed! & of course who wouldn’t want ARC of I’ll be slaying you??
Shiloh Walker – Started following her on twitter and would love to read Hunter’s Need. Just ordered Broken.
Jill Myles – Gentelmen Prefer Succubi – I’ve heard good things @ this book!
Carolyn Crane – Mind Games – Love the cover!
Elisabeth Naughton – Great cover – looks good!
Reset! First winner announced. New comments count toward books remaining in the pool.
I won! Oh yah! NOW my Monday rocks! My email is robin[at]intensewhisper[dot]com.
Can I keep playing?
Sure. But you need to email me to claim your prize.
Yay Robin you lucky lady you!!! Anya’s new series is yummy.
Wishing List x5 books for me right now would be :
1. Erica Hayes/ “Shadowglass” so can read it back to back after book 1 Shadowfae without having more than a few months in between reading the first one…
2. Louisa Edwards / “On The Steamy Side” for one thing do not have book 1 in this series and have them both on my wish list and mainly Dig the title of the book a lot….
3. Elizabeth Naughton/ “Marked” ARC would love to win this one because it is 50 days to release date and do not want to wait to read the story…
4. Juliana Stone/ “His Darkest Hunger” want the book because it is the first one in the new series and am in love with the characters Jaxon and Libby and March 30th is too long…
5. Denise A Agnew/ “Primordial” looked it up and even though the book came out in 2004 it is set in the rainforest in the (dark and dangerous jungle) and would love to try out an author new to me….
Thank you very much Ann for the chance to play and such a wonderful list to choose from!!!!
jackie b central texas 🙂 🙂
Opps… see that now. Too excited to read I guess. *what a dope* 🙄
Congrats! I was going to list Wicked Enchantment on my list in my comment here, but I saw you won it already!
Ooo congratulations, Robin – and wow, you have the potential to rack up the books! 😀 Yay for Ann and her super huge contest!
1. Stolen Heat by Elisabeth Naughton because I just finished reading Stolen Fury and I loved it
2. Slow Heat by Jill Shalvis because I love the way she writes and I’m reading Double Play right now and liking it a lot so far
3. A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole because I’ve yet to start on her paranormal series and I have all the books on my shelf waiting for me
4. Angel’s Blood by Nalini Singh because I have read so MANY good things about that series (I also have both books)
5. No Chance by Christy Reece because I love reunion stories.
Uhm. I understand how you made this mistake, but the question to be answered was: Which 5 of THESE books. Not 5 random books.
oh. whoops! will try again…
WooHoo!!! Congratulations Robin!!! 😀
Congrats, Robin! Anya is a wonderful author. I think you’ll really enjoy the book.
Cynthia Eden’s – She was recently introduced to me, last year, and I just love how she writes
Shiloh Walker – Simply enjoy this series by her.
Diana Pharoah Francis – I’ve read one other book by her, fantasy, and so I heard great things about this book
Jill Myles – I’ve been seeing this author around like crazy. I’ve been tempted to pick her up but always hesitates
Lauren Dane – I’ve been hearing good things about this author and book
My top five would be:Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone by Jeri Smith-Ready, Gentlemen Prefer Succubi by Jill Myles, Hunter’s Need by Shiloh Walker, Shadowglass by Erica Hayes, and The Vampire’s Quest by Vivi Anna.
I don’t know that I could choose just 5 from that list…
I would have to go with:
1. Wicked Enchantment (LUCKY Robin!!)
2. Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone by Jeri Smith-Ready
3. Lead Me On by Victoria Dahl
4. Marked by Elisabeth Naughton
5. Goddess of the Hunt by Tessa Dare
Anyone who hasn’t read any of the Moira Rogers books, I am going to shamelessly plug her awesomeness here! Definate Must Reads!
YAY go Robin, congrats hun! your Twitter squeeing is so cute!
Robin K,
I love Fantastic Fiction. I use it all the time. Its a great place to find similar authors and other books from an author I newly discovered. They have a pretty good search for used copies as well if a book is out of print.
Hey Donna, I also like it because it lists the date of release for new books before most others. I love that series are divided and listed chronologically. I am a bit crazy about reading all books in a set from start to finish.
I am also a stickler about reading a series in order, even if each book is about a different set of characters. It just makes the flow of reading better.
I use it for that too Robin, I really use it for almost everything unless I am buying a new book although it conveniently links to Amazon. I also like how on the bottom of the author’s page it lists other books they have either recommended or given blurbs for.
Congrats Robin!! It sounds like a great book.
I’ve read alot of those books already but I would love to try out:
Lauren Dane -Laid Bare
Carolyn Crane-Mind Games
Juliana Stone-His Darkest Hunger
Megan Hart-No Greater Pleasure
Erica Hayes-Shadowglass
Thx for the contest!
🙂 I just discovered Fantastic Fiction and am browsing the site to see what is what, sounds like some of you have been using it awhile now!!!
jackie b central texas
I’ve never heard of Fantastic Fiction. I have sticky notes with release dates and whatnot, but if that site could organize me, that would be awesome.
Hey Jackie have you ever heard of these guys yet, great place to go pick up books on the cheap!!
Found out about it on thebookbinge.com.
http://www.abooktrader.com/

😐 😐 😐
I’ll have to check them out. My nasty little reading addiction is starting to get expensive, LOL.
I have not sent in my order yet but found myself 16 books that I want for the $25 purchase to get free shipping. All the books are used but for about less than $2 each am not complaining…
jackie b central texas
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
Whoa, nice website find! I’ll definitely be checking this one out in the future! Except now, I have no money to spend. 😥 Poor books will have to wait.
It’s too bad that they’re limited to US postal addresses…I’m in Canada & so won’t be able to get them.. 😥
I have been planning on going to the RT Conventions Book fair a few of these authors will be there and am looking forward to meeting them! I have some of cynthia edens stuff but still have some books coming in the mail!
The RT Conventions Book Fair would be wonderful but will never be able to go, more is the pity because would love to meet some of these authors myself…
jackie b central texas
I agree. I would love to meet authors, but they never have book signings around where I live. I guess MN isn’t the most popular place for authors. I’ve never met an author in my life, and I think it would be a little scary!
I feel for you on the book signings. We don’t get a lot of them in Milwaukee. I can always drive down to Chicago, but that it a pretty good trek for a week night.
I live in Kansas. We get authors, but no one ever knows about it until it’s too late. Rachel Hawkins was here last week and do you think anyone told me? Nope!
Patricia Briggs has a book signing in Minneapolis on April 10. A friend of mine lives in Rochester, and I’m a bit jealous of her at the moment.
i didn’t read the question right last time, so here we go again:
1. Juliana Stone’s Darkest Hunger because I love a good reunion story
2. Cynthia Eden’s I’ll be Slaying You because I just ordered Eternal Hunter and I know I’m gonna want to read the second book right away
3. Louisa Edward’s On the Steamy Side because I’m on a contemporary kick right now
4. Elisabeth Naughton’s Marked because I love her books and I can’t wait to read her paranormal series
5. Jeri Smith-Ready’s Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone because I love the covers of these books and I’ve heard great reviews about them as well
I know if the RT Convention and Authors After Dark. Are there others? Would love to find one closer to home.
Colby Hodge’s Twist: Because I’m pretty sure it’s the book I lent to an RA and never got back, and I didn’t get a chance to read it.
Jeri Smith-Ready’s Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone: Because I keep meaning to get Wicked game at the book store, but when I have money for it they’re out.
Moira Rogers’ Crux: Because I have heard good things about her books. And the Southern Arcana sound interesting.
Moira Rogers’ Sanctuary: Same as above except with a different series.
Jill Myles’ Gentlemen Prefer Succubi: I don’t have a “because” here, the title made me laugh.
I would looove to go to RT Convention…but it’s soo not in the cards for me. I’m always keeping my fingers crossed that one of these days author events will come to Ottawa, ON. 😉
I’m really excited to read Shadowglass, Goddess of the Hunt, Jeri Smith-Ready’s books, and Shiloh Walker’s Broken.
I love historical romance, and I especially love romance with a fantasy or science fiction twist included in the plot.
I also looked up the info on Crux and Sactuary by Moira Rogers, and they look like really good books! Cry Sanctuary is about werewolves, which I’ve always loved. And Crux has magic and paranormal aspects. I’m nothing if not a sucker for paranormal!
Both Crux and Sanctuary are great reads. Anything Moira Rogers is… HOT HOT HOT! :::fans self:::
What a wonderful lot of books to give away, you are much to generous to us. Meanwhile I will sit back and wait until I can afford Hell Fire 😀
Fantastic contest!
Here’s the 5 I’m most excited about.
1. ARC of I’ll be Slaying You by Cynthia Eden!!! Eternal Hunter was soooo good.
2. Crux by Moira Rogers. I haven’t read anything by her yet but this one is on my wishlist.
3. Lead Me on by Victoria Dahl. This one has great reviews from my friends at Goodreads.
4. Mind Games by Carolyn Cane. Another one on my wishlist.
5. Laid Bare by Lauren Dane. Her books have the hottest covers!!
The ladies who compromise Moira Rogers are amazing. Very steamy reads. : ) And I’m a total Victoria Dahl fangirl. Embarassingly so.
Agree on the 2 who write Moira Rogers, Bree and Donna have lots of good material out there for us fans, new like myself and old alike!!
jackie b central texas
😈 😈 😈
Awww, y’all are making me blush.
I had no idea Moira Rogers was two people. Very cool!
I have been wanting to read Bree and Donna’s books, but it seems like most are in e-book format. With no e-reader, and working on the computer all day by the time I get home I dont really want to read on the computer either. It looks like some of them are print, just havent figured out where to start yet.
Donna, just start anywhere–Bree and Donna (Moira)’s writing is yummy! You’ll be hooked and want to get everything anyway 😉
It would be so much fun to go to a Book Convention. And every year I check out all I can find to see if they are close enough and if I can swing it, but so far no luck. For a while there I was thinking RomCon might work, but its not looking like it now. Maybe next year will be my year!
Speaking of Twitter…how many people actually use the thing? I’m not exactly the most tech inclined person in the world…I mean I just discovered blogging & facebook late last year…I’m pretty much an embarrassment to my generation (I’ll be turning 28 next month). I really don’t get it…What’s everyone addicted to…twitter, myspace, facebook, livejournal, blogger?
😀 😀 :grin:Addicted to what you ask? Man am I addicted to Twitter, you find contests and drawings from lovely book blog sites and the authors you meet and all the great silliness you can chat about is amazing fun!!! You are in your late 20’s and here I am in my late 40’s and wishing would have had access to Facebook, Blogger, Twitter and all the available Internet shareware we have nowadays!!!
jackie b central texas
I’m addicted to my Google Reader now that I’ve gotten hooked to all the great blogs out there…I’ve lost track of how many blogs I follow but it takes an hour probably everyday to devour everything that gets posted.
I use twitter, but not as much as a lot of of my friends. At this point, I am using it as the lazy way to update my Facebook status. 😀
Twitter gets more addicting as you use it. I started out with an account but barely did anything. Then I started chatting with friends in other cities, its nice because its almost real time. Then I moved on to contests and following authors, etc that I enjoy reading. I have also found quite a few new books/authors though it.
:sad:I blame Twitter and Blogger sites for my TBR pile being so big, right now it is over 250 and counting with book orders coming in and Paperbacks swap books also coming to me in the near future!! Lots of fun growing my library of books though!!!

Jackie: wow! 250 TBR pile! Goodness, I’m glad my pile isn’t that big! I agree with Donna: networking sites are the reason why my TBR pile is getting bigger…and bigger…and bigger. I can’t keep up! lol
I’ve given up on Facebook because my computer tech guy said Facebook is probably the reason I’m getting viruses (3 since 2007). I use MySpace, but not as much as I used to. And Twitter is so I can post contests to all my blog followers. I’m not as obsessed about all the online interaction like a lot of people my age. I just think it gets to be too much sometimes, and we waste a lot of time online when we could be reading! 😀
 Yes my TBR is very huge, thanks to The Book Depository sales at Thanksgiving/Christmas and New Years and also my PBS Swaps and now my new find
http://www.abooktrader.com, I will never catch up reading but sure am having fun trying!!!
😛 😛 😛 😛

I love Twitter! It is such a great way to keep constantly up to date on new interviews, contests, blogs, book releases, new authors… I’m also addicted to Facebook, but use that mainly as a way to keep in touch with friends who have moved away.
I just recently jumped on the twitter bandwagon. It’s horribly addicting.
I’ve been resisting Twitter. I usually use RSS feeds to follow blogger tweets, but today I was forced to join so I could reply to one of Ann Aguirre’s tweets.
Congrats, Robin! I hope you enjoy your book!
looking forward to reading:
silver bourne- P. Briggs
Succubus shadows- R. Mead
Betrayed & Bewitched- Lisa Shearin
Magic Bleeds- Ilona Andrews
A Local Habitation- Seanan McGuire
Again, this is not a random wish-list, my friends. The question is: which 5 of THESE?
out of these 5 i would love to read: crux, mind games, wicked games, bad to the bone, and shadowglass
My five wish list would be:
1. I’ll be Slaying You by Cynthia Eden – I absolutely love her stuff and read everything I can get my hands on by her.
2. Mind Games by Carolyn Crane – This sounds like an interesting book haven’t heard of it before.
3. His Darkest Hunger by Juliana Stone – love the sound of this one. Great cover too.
4. Marked by Elisabeth Naughton – have heard some wonderful things about her work but haven’t had the chance to read her yet. 😀
5. Hunter’s Need by Shiloh Walker – I love Shiloh’s books they are always good to read. 😀
Twitter and Facebook are a time suck. I promise myself that I’ll only check my status…five minutes, tops to look at friend’s stuff. Does it ever work? Nope. Two hours later it’s bed time and I’ve got nothing done, lol.
I couldn’t agree more! I’ve been avoiding Facebook since their most recent “makeover”. I don’t do well with change LOL
Hey Jackie you are welcome on the BBB shout out, it has garnered me lots of fun and had to slow way down because spending too much time there last year or so!!!! But I do still visit and get authors and books to read names from you guys !!!
👿 👿 👿 👿 👿

Shadowglass by Erica Hayes – frankly cause I love this cover. It looks like something I’d enjoy
Wicked Game and Bad to the Bone by Jeri Smith Ready – I read WG by Smith-Ready already and have been itching to get my hands on Bad to the Bone.
Goddess of the Hunt by Tessa Dare – another one where I saw a great review on it and have been meaning to pick it up.
Thanks and Good Luck with the upcoming release date!

And congrats, Robin!
Thanks for celebrating with us, Ann!
Oooo ok – so a bunch of people have mentioned it, but there’s no consolidated thread I could see…
Who has been to RT? Is it worth it to just got to the signing? I’m debating going or not – to the signing… Can’t afford the whole conference, sadly. But I’ve always heard such fun things about it!
(Also I keep getting this error message with over capacity or something when I try to comment, so sorry if I’m getting spammy and double posting. I don’t mean to!)
I’ve been to RT as an author. I would go if it was relatively close by, as a reader. But I’d go to the signing only, which is like ten bucks, I think, and then you can have your existing books signed by all your favorite authors. That would be worth it to me.
I would totally do that if it was closer. One day I will make it!
It would totally be worth it if I lived close by. I’d pay just for certain things that intrigued me. Oh, I wish I could win the lottery. It always sounds like such fun to go to.
Ah – thanks Ann. Are you going this year? (I think you might’ve said “no” in passing – but not sure if anything changed?)
It’s a few hours from me, but I know the city somewhat well. So… heh. I think I’ve been convinced to go to the signing, and I can visit with some friends while I’m down there 😀
Ooh, Limecello! I’m a little envious! Have a terrific time at the signing! And let us know afterwards what you got and who you got to meet so we can live vicariously 😉
RT convention would be great fun indeed if could take enough books to have signed, also would love to go to the ROM Com in Denver but that is not going to happen this year again either. I asked my DH for him to take time off and go with me but when he saw the price tag the answer was no!!!
😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥
jackie b central texas
I would love to go to RomCon…that would be beyond awesome but once again unless I miraculously win the lottery…it totally won’t be happening. I saw all the great pics that they posted everywhere…looked like a lot of fun.
I think I’ve been sold – RT signing… looking like a yes. But RomCon – sounds like a ton of fun, but … I’m a skeptic. Cautious? Anyway, I’d like to hear what people say about it first.
However, it could also be super awesome to go the first year ever – lots of big names and fun workshops planned it seems.
I know some people won registrations to RomCon, which is fantastic. They can report back to us! 😉
Does anyone know off hand where RT is going to be this year? 😀
I’m really behind, but what does RT mean?
Romantic Times, I believe.
oh, ok. Thanks. NOW everything makes sense! 😆
The RT is this year in Columbus Ohio
I’d love to go to RT, but it’s too far this year; I’d love to go just to the signing–it’d be amazing just to have the chance to meet all these authors! 🙂 Plus the books—oh, the books! 😉
Wow, those are a great bunch of books! For me, I’d love…..
-Jess Granger/Beyond the Shadows..I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it. I’d like to see more.
-Colby Hodge/Twist..I’ve read other books by Colby and like her writing style. The dystopian feel to the storyline is also intriguing to me.
-Carolyn Crane/Mind Games..I’ve heard great reviews about this and her personality on her blog makes me think this book would be something I’d like.
-Jill Myles/Gentlemen Prefer Succubi..I’m intrigued by sexy storyline and the cover makes me drool.
-Shiloh Walker/Hunter’s Need..I enjoy paranormal stories and enjoy Shiloh’s writing style so that makes this one look like a winner to me.
Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!
i’m looking forward to reading books by shiloh walker. i haven’t tried any yet, because my TBR pile is stacked so high i’ve built myself a cave out of them.
The first book I read by Shiloh Walker was Fragile. It was excellent. My copy of Broken just shipped I cant wait for it to arrive.
Shiloh is such a great writer…I just recently started reading her books…I read The Missing and Chains…still have all her Hunters books to read plus Through the Veil. You’re going to love her work…it’s addictive.
😀 You have to read some of Shiloh Walker’s books the Hunter series is hot and am so looking forward to reading about the Rafferty boys in Fragile and Broken….
🙂 🙂 🙂

Courtney Milan – Proof by Seduction
Victoria Dahl – Lead Me On
Tessa Dare – Goddess of the Hunt
Joely Sue Burkhart – Rose of Shanhasson
Shiloh Walker – Hunter’s Need
Because I’ve been hearing amazing things about these books and these authors. 😀 Thanks for the chance to win!
Wow, nice party! It took me a while to make a list because I have some of these and don’t know anything about others. Here’s my list:
Jess Granger, Beyond the Shadows – the excerpt is yummy
Megan Hart, No Greater Pleasure – have been wanting to try her
Cynthia Eden, Eternal Hunter – have been meaning to get this one
Jill Myles, Gentlemen Prefer Succubi – ditto
Joely Sue Burkhart, Rose of Shanhasson – for something new and different
Took me a while too. I haven’t even heard of half of these, but they all look really good!
I read Eternal Hunter last month and it was fabulous!
I have on my TBR pile Laid Bare by Lauren Dane, WIcked Enchantment by Anya Bast and have read in the last 6 months Crux, Hunter’s Need and Gentlemen Prefer Succubi and enjoyed them and need to really read the others that have waiting on me soon!!!
:ohh: :ohh: :ohh: :ohh: :ohh:

I’ll Be Slaying You Cynthia Eden
Marked by Elisabeth Naughton
Shiloh Walker – Hunter’s Need
HelenKay Dimon’s Leave Me Breathless
Victoria Dahl – Lead Me On…..and there are MORE, these are awesome books!!!
Has anyone read Joely Sue Burkhart? I’m wondering about her style. Whether she writes character driven or plot driven books and whether her erotic style is more like Joey Hill or Kate Douglas?
I’m curious about her too since she’s a brand spankin’ new author for me.
I just got to the party, so here are my picks:
Jeri Smith-Ready-Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone
Diana Pharoah Francis-Bitter Night
Cynthia Eden-ARC of I’ll be Slaying You
Cynthia Eden-Eternal Hunter
Moira Rogers-Crux
Which five (5) of these books are you most excited to read and why?

Coz i had read Wicked Game And i love to read the Bad to the Bone for the series reading
– Louisa Edwards
On the Steamy Side
coz : i had read STeamy steamy reviews about this book ! love it
– Shiloh Walker
Hunter’s Need
– Erica Hayes
Shadowglass
– Jill Myles
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
All of them are New for Me Authors, I had read so many great reviews about their books. and i wish that i could read all of them ! 😉
Mariska you will like any of Shiloh Walker’s books and Hunters Need was Oh Wow hot! Erica Hayes has started us out with her new series in Shadowfae and I am also hankering for Shadowglass, really want to see what happens with the magic mirror….
Jill Myles first Succubi book stars my namesake Jackie and am going to get the next book in the series soon..
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
jackie b central texas
I envy you ! I haven’t read any of those books 😥
I’m most looking forward to Jess Granger’s Beyond the Shadows because I loved Beyond the Rain. As in reread multiple times in a row. 😀
Next would be Louisa Edwards’ On the Steamy Side. I’ve heard great things about this book and I’ve loved the snippets I’ve read for it.
Next up is Colby Hodge’s Twist because I’ve never read her books but she’s from my home state and I’d love to support another author from here.
The rest of my list are authors I’ve never read but would love the opportunity to check them out:
Carolyn Crane’s Mind Games
Vivi Anna’s The Vampire’s Quest
Thanks for the great blog party!!
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book multiple times in a row. I’ve read books many times over the years, but not right after! I’ll have to check out Beyond the Rain!
Megan’s Mark by Lora Leigh was a book I keep re-reading…it was my first Lora book and I just was captivated by her world building abilities. I picked up as many titles as I could from her backlist after reading that book. I’m still an ardent fan of her work.
I’ve reread LJ Smith’s Vampire Diaries and Christopher Pike’s Remember Me series so many times they no longer have covers. Of course they’re over 10 years old, so that might have something to do with it, too, LOL. Kresley Cole and LKH are easy to reread as well. You miss so much the first time through, especially with Cole since most of the stories happen at the same time.
I didn’t really get into the Vampire Diaries. Watch the show, although it’s not the best show I’ve seen, either. Juliet Marillier’s adult romance/fantasy books are great re-reads.
I love Lora Leigh too, but the book by her I’ve most re-read is Dawn’s Awakening. I just love the story between Seth and Dawn. Appart of that, the series the I’ve re-read the most is the Psy/Changeling one by Nalini Singh. I never get tired of it!
Question: What does “reset” the contest mean?
Robin, reset is when a winner is picked and the comments then start over from there to choose the next winner and so on and so on until all the books are gone and the contest gets to the grand prize GC. Awesome right!!!
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
jackie b central texas
Haha – the reset is so confusing, and a lot of fun! I’ve been skimming reasons why people want to read certain books, and I kind of wish I’d put “because X author is SUPERCOOL” for all of them. Am noticing some people didn’t give the “whys” :X
But this is reminding me of some old posts on the Bradford Bunch, Ann, you totally love playing with us 😛
It’s difficult for me to come up with a “Why?” answer, other than she’s “supercool,” like you said. What more is there to say? 😀
Kelsey – exactly. I guess if you really wanted to reach you could say something like “well I’m pretty sure HelenKay Dimon doesn’t kick puppies or babies… and that’s another reason to read her books, right?” 😉
Actually, I also wanted to say, there are a number of authors/books listed that are totally awesome, but I didn’t put them on my “covet list” because I’ve already read them. And I think other people should experience the awesomesauce 😀
It really was hard to narrow down to 5, I had to just pick the top 5 that I havent read yet. Its an awesome list and I cant imagine anyone will be disappointed.
😆 lol about the kicking puppies!
Yeah it’s hard to choose which books, because the list of authors is really good.
Four of my top 5 are books by authors I haven’t read before, because this kind of contest is always a great way to discover new authors
And I got many new additions to my tbb list.
The Whys were hard for me since I haven’t read many of authors listed. I just had to look for a plot and cover that looked good.
It’s very hard to pick just 5.
Scoundrel’s Kiss
Mind Games
Mistress by Mistake
Goddess of the Hunt
Beyond the Shadows
I know some of the authors but not all – sometimes I like the ones I know but sometimes I like to find new authors. All the books sound wonderful.
I’d most like to read Crux, Mind Games, Wicked Game, Bad to the Bone, and Hunter’s Need. These books have gotten really great reviews and I’ve been pining over them all.
angel28140 (AT) yahoo (DOT) com
Crux-Moira Rogers
Eternal Hunter-Cynthia Eden
Proof of Seuction-Courtney Milan
Beyond the Shadows-Jess Granger
Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone-Jeri Smith-Ready
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
Day 1 and there are 80 some comments. Any guesses how high it’ll get by April 6th? LOL
And thats just comments, it isnt counting all the replies.
Good question. I’m guessing more than 1,000. If we all tell more and more people, it might even get past 5,000! Hope the comment section here doesn’t get too exhausted and break down with the comment overload!
😮 (that emoticon is about the funniest one I’ve seen! makes me laugh every time I see it.)
LOL. I think that I Ann might get a comment record with this giveaway
I was thinking the same thing. This is going to be a massive thread come April….
lol I was just about to make a post about that – good thing I skimmed the comments!
I think Ann is going for a “most comments ever” post 😛
Also, selfish question here :X replies count [as entries] too, right?
Limecello,
I think it counts as entry, but I am not sure
cool giveaways thanks
love blaze s so julie leto
helen;s bookks
megan harts’ book

good luck all 😎 😎
Wonderful contest. I discovered many new authors while checking out their websites and books. Here are my picks:
Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
She was my guest on the Loveromances and More blog and her books sound really good.
Cynthia Eden – Eternal Hunter
I love her books and wasn’t able to get a copy of this book so far.
The following authors and books are all new to me, but I think it is a great chance to try a new author
Tessa Dare
Goddess of the Hunt
Jess Granger
Beyond the Shadows
Erica Hayes
Shadowglass
I would love to read Jeri Smith-Ready’s Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone; Elisabeth Naughton’s ARC of Marked; Erica Hayes’ Shadowglass; Cynthia Eden’s Eternal Hunter and Lauren Dane’s Laid Bare because their book look really interesting and I’ve never read any of them before.
Congrats to Robin!
I checked out another book on this by an author I haven’t tried yet, Maggie Robinson (Mistress by Mistake) – now another added to the ever-growing wishlist.
Isn’t that the problem? You keep finding all of these books that you would like to read, but can’t afford them all…nor have the time to read them all.
I find it hard to whittle down my list.
I’m with you Katie…I have the hardest time narrowing the list down when I want to make purchases…I usually re-read blurbs & excerpts…go with the ones that end up shouting at me to read them right now! 😉
You know I find it helpful to read the bad reviews. Why people didn’t like the book is interesting…and can actually help me decide to read it.
I’m always kind of on the fence about reviews…I mean I’ll read them but I’m stubborn in the sense that I want to see for myself if I’ll end up hating or loving a book.
I understand what you mean, and I’m a reviewer. : ) Reviews are extremely subjective. There’ve been times when the ladies I review with have given a poor score to a book I thought was wonderful a vice versa. Reading them still helps me, though, because it gives insight into the book itself. I may not agree with the opinions, but I appreciate the closer look.
Anna, I am the same way. I will read some of the reviews and the ratings and see how others felt but if it still sounds good to me, I will still read it.
While we’re on the subject of great books…how many people here like to read ebooks? What device do you use? Do you have an ereader? If so, what type and what are the pros/cons of it…If you don’t have one…are you planning on getting one or are you all about print books?
I don’t have an e-reader so if I read an ebook, I do so on my computer. Truthfully, I hate it. BUT I do like to keep a book or two on my computer in case I need an emergency book to read whilst appearing to be working…
I’ll be interested to hear what others think.
I don’t have an e-read in the sense of Kindle & Sony’s but what I use is a mini laptop which works great and that I absolutely love.
I read most of my ebooks on my macbook…My Mum got me an eBookwise reader for Christmas and I pretty much use that to read all my ebooks from Fictionwise since it’s super easy to load and I don’t have to fiddle around with converting formats and stuff. I always get .pdf so when I try to put converted .pdf on the eBookwise…they appear kinda wonky 🙁
So for now all my ebooks purchased elsewhere are read on my macbook…someday when I can afford it..I would love getting a .pdf reflow ereader like Kindle/Sony/nook or whatever else that may come out.
I love my nook. Hubby got it for me for Valentine’s Day, and it is awesome. I didn’t think I would like to read ebooks. I always liked having the actual dead tree book. But man, I really do love the ereader, it’s so handy to have all your books in one place, just a click away. 😀
I dont read a lot of ebooks because I do not have an e-reader. I work all day on the computer already and so when I get home I dont want to sit in front of it to read too. I was thinking about saving up for the Kindle, but then the Nook came out so I am waiting on some more reviews while saving to see what I end up with hopefully by the end of the year.
I just found out about another reader called The PocketBook 360…it’s being featured on the ebookweek site http://www.ebookweek.com/Pocket_review.html
price is pretty much comparable to what’s already available but it doesn’t have all the additional bells & whistles like Kindle/nook which actually is a good thing for me…I don’t really care for being deadlocked to a certain store for my material or having 3g/wireless capability on a reader. I just want a simple .pdf ereader…I think I’m going to keep an eye on this one and see how it does… the mobile read forum http://www.mobileread.com/ is also a great source on reviews/user tips for every handheld reader device out there.
I got a Kindle for my birthday last year. I’d wanted a Sony eReader, but was assured (by the giftor) that the Kindle was more awesome because it had Whispernet. 😉
He was right. The wireless feature is awesome. And there are often freebies offered for the Kindle, so my TBR pile can expand at a scary rate every other month or so without costing me a dime – plus I get to read new authors I might not have taken a chance on otherwise.
I do not like that I can’t buy books from other retailers and put it on the Kindle. If I want to buy a book from Books on Board, I have to read it on my laptop. Not as cool. This is the same with almost any reader, however, so it’s not unique to the Kindle.
I’d also like to have the OED available as my default dictionary. I have the Oxford American on there now (the default), and you can purchase others, but the OED, last time I checked, was not available. When I’m reading Shakespeare, the OED is much more useful.
Bonus to any eReader – websites like feedbooks. Public doman and self-pubbed. I read a fabulous novel called Beasts of New York that, due to the high volume of downloads on feedbooks, now has a print deal. Yeah!
That’s not quite true, actually. 🙂
You should be able to load any ebook as long as it’s in a format that the ereader supports. You probably can’t buy from BoB directly, but if you buy the Kindle format, you should be able to get it onto your Kindle.
I have a Sony ereader, and I buy ebooks from all over the internet. As long as they’re in a format that the Sony accepts – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Reader#Formats_supported – I can load it.
Sadly, the DRM forbids the programs Books on Board uses from recognizing my Kindle as a device, so it registers my computer as the approved device, but not my Kindle. Some other retailers work okay, but it depends on the DRM. DRM-free sites are my BFFs. 🙂
Mobi is the Kindle-compatible format BoB sells, but only DRM-free mobi files can be transferred to the Kindle: http://www.booksonboard.com/index.php?F=helpMobiDev
Regarding ebooks, I’ve had a Kindle for almost 2 years and I love it. In fact, I broke my original Kindle (dropped it face down on the sidewalk) a month ago and immediately had to rush out and get a new one with overnight shipping because I couldn’t bear to be without it for more than a day!
I haven’t actually read a hard copy book in well over a year now. If there isn’t an ebook version, I just don’t buy the book. Of course, I’d make an exception if I won any of these books. 😀
Regarding pros/cons – there are so many pros, it’s hard to list them all but I guess for me the biggest one is the convenience of being able to instantly satisfy my book lust but turning on whispernet and downloading a book, no matter where I am or what else I’m doing. It takes all of one minute to complete a purchase and get the book. Closely related to this is the ability to carry my entire TBR pile with me at all times. No matter what my mood is, I’ve got the books right there, available to satisfy it. I travel alot so having all me books with me at all times is just amazing.
As for cons, the biggest one is that I can’t share my books with my friends or donate them to the library. I HATE THIS!!! Also, thanks to the convenience of buying, and the fact that I can’t buy used books for it, I’ve spent far more on ebooks than I ever did before I had a reader.
I don’t like the idea of e-books. Yes, it’s easier to bring along, but I still like the idea of holding an actual book in my hands, and physically turning the pages.
I liked eBooks. I have a Sony Touch and a Kindle 2. I also sometimes use my iPhone as a reader. Oh and yes I’m addicted to books and “gadgets”.
Oops Like not liked 🙂
As always, I show up a day late…but fortunately this time I am not totally late!
Let’s see the five books, I would love to have and which are already on my tbb list are
Laid Bare by Lauren Dane…I love her work and her characters are great.
I’ll Be Slaying You by Cynthia Eden…this just sounds amazing and I have had it on my list for awhile now.
Hunter’s Need by Shiloh Walker…she has been one of my favorites since I accidently stumbled upon her Hunter’s book ages ago. She, also, is the one who introduced me to another amazing author who I love…Ann Aguirre!
Gentlemen Prefer Sucubbi by Jill Myles…this one just sounds good. Finally, Leave Me Breathless by Helen Kay Dimon…I have read and enjoyed her work.
Thanks for running such a great contest Ann and I am really looking forward to reading Hell Fire!!
I have two handhelds and a Kindle for reading ebooks. Find myself going for the ebook more and more, to save space, download fast on release day. Plus, I like the variety of something a bit different we can find from the smaller epubs.
Thanks for the awesome contest. My choices would be:
Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone by Jeri Smith-Ready- I have been wanting to read these for a while.
Shadowglass by Erica Hayes- sounds amazing.
The Stranger’s Secret- love Beth Williamson’s writing
Marked by Elizabeth Naughton- sounds great.
His Darkest Hunger by Juliana Stone- Sounds great.
My pick of the books remaining…
Crux
Shadowglass
Mind Games
Twist
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
Just read an excerpt from Jeri Smith-Ready’s Wicked Game I’m ready to read the rest of the book!!! I’d love to win it book and the Bad to the Bone. 🙂
They are both great. You will love them.
On the question of e-books, is Amy Gregg’s
Magic & Madness only available as a e-book. I checked it out on Amazon to see what it was about and only came up with the Kindle edition.
I found Magic & Madness in PB on Amazon – maybe they were just having a weird moment?
Reset! Posting the winner now. And carry on.
Congratulations Michelle!!! 😀
I’m loving the structure of this giveaway…it’s just really interactive. Great idea Ann!
I get lost easily, lol. It’s not difficult to navigate through here, just different. I’m learning though!
LOL, me too! I have to admit that I’m getting a little confused trying to track the conversations and see which ones have new comments and so forth! Guess I just need more practice!
Congrats, Michelle!
Congratulations Michelle!!

Congrats Michelle!!
My Second Entry:
Moira Rogers Crux & Sanctuary
Carolyn Crane Mind Games
Anya Bast Wicked Enchantment
Victoria Dahl Lead Me On
😀 Earlier there was started a discussion on e-readers and do we have one. I do not but do download PDF files and read books on my computer. I have an entire notebook printed of free short stories this way and some of the longer books have yet to read. Like someone else said this will do in an emergency situation when need something to read, I still prefer the real thing holding a book in my hands and turning the pages!

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
I have so many pdf books, the ARc and latest books from Authors, but since I have so much to do in my home, i just can’t stay longer in front of my pc 🙁
so, the smell of books, still my favorite !
Congrats Michelle!! 😀
I look forward to one day reading:
– Lauren Dane’s LAID BARE because I love all books Lauren Dane
– Victoria Dahl’s LEAD ME ON because I loved TALK ME DOWN
– Jill Myles’ GENTLEMEN PREFER SUCCUBI because it seems like it’s right up my alley
– Megan Hart’s NO GREATER PLEASURE because I have yet to read her and I’m curious
– either title by Moira Rogers because I enjoyed CROSSROADS
So many books, so little time to read! The other books/authors I have either read or don’t know anything about yet…
@Donna S: Like I said, I have the nook and I absolutely LOVE it. The only reason I started reading ebooks was because my favorite author wrote an ebook that wasn’t going to be printed. So I got it, then started getting more and more of them. I like that they are a little bit cheaper (I’m on a strict budget), I like having 100s of books in one place, I’m totally running out of book shelf space too.
I do still get regular dead tree books though. Especially if I already have all the other books in a series in that format. 🙂
I’m addicted to ebooks…have been buying them for a few years but it really hasn’t stopped me from buying print either. I’ve got a 1000+ ebook collection and my print collection is getting quite close to that.
Wow! When you find the time to read all of them?
Oh my goodness! I haven’t even stopped and counted all my books, but it’s nowhere near 1,000! 😮
For the most part I’ve read them all…I have about 200 ebooks in my Unread folder…as for time…I read whenever possible…which means on the bus, on breaks, any other spare time I may have.
WOW! That’s a lot of books! I’l mention your collection the next time my hubby gives me crap about mine LOL
That’s a good point. e-books save on space and money. I’m definitely running out of book space myself. I’ve had to pack them in cardboard boxes in my closet because my room is getting so stuffed.
I’m in the same boat with running out of space for my print collection…I’m trying to figure out a way (since it’s like super expensive & I don’t know the back end of hammer *sigh*) to get someone to build me custom bookshelves for my apartment since right now I’ve got piles on any available surface.
Check out Ikea. They have great shelves.
Congrats Michelle!!!
I’m shocked the Carolyn Crane’s books wasn’t the first to go. Must be me projecting. 😀
🙂 I know Katie you would think hot chick and action would intrigue more of us nowadays to pick Carolyn’s read first!
It is on my wish list though on my computer….
jackie b central texas
I love countdowns! They are too exciting! 🙂
I really want to read Maggie Robinson’s Mistress by Mistake. An entire series focusing on courtesans? Yes, please! Probably my first choice.
I’ve wanted to read Gentlemen Prefer Succubi by Jill Myles for a while – heard many wonderful things.
And, of course, Crux – Moira Rogers. Have to start at the beginning! I haven’t read a lot of paranormal romance, so these two are on my list to expand my genre lines. 😉
Have a lot of urban fantasy love, so Jeri Smith-Ready is def. on my list as well. I also used to have a Big Band radio show, and would have done much better as a vampire on that gig..
And after browsing through the list again, Carolyn Crane’s Mind Games sounds awesome! Ann, you have double the size of my TBR list in one post. 🙁
Weird…my last post has parts that are missing at the edges… 🙁
Congratulations, Michelle and Robin!
My second entry:
Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
She was my guest on the Loveromances and More blog and her books sound really good.
Cynthia Eden – Eternal Hunter
I love her books and wasn’t able to get a copy of this book so far.
The following authors and books are all new to me, but I think it is a great chance to try a new author
Tessa Dare
Goddess of the Hunt
Jess Granger
Beyond the Shadows
Erica Hayes
Shadowglass
Oh this is Awesome!!! So many good books to choose from!
I’d say the ones that stand out to me are:
1~Cynthia Eden ~ARC of I’ll be Slaying You
Cynthia is sooo awesome!!!! Iv’e read her Eternal Hunter. Oh so good!!!
2~Shiloh Walker~Hunter’s Need
I’ve heard so many good things about this book!!!
3~Erica Hayes~Shadowglass
I’ve heard this was really good. New author to me.
4~Jill Myles~Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
Great cover!!! I am such a cover hog.
5~Jess Granger~Beyond the Shadows
Another Hawt cover! I have read so many books because of the covers! 😆
I have to say i haven’t read one yet that i bought for its cover that i don’t like!!!
Big congrats to the winners so far! And good luck to everyone else!
Congrats to Robin K , & Michelle for winning already!
Congrats Michelle! Has everyone clicked on the links of the authors names and visited their websites? If you right click you can choose to visit in a new tab/window (in some browsers), it makes coming back here easier 🙂
I also want to give a shout out to Joely Sue Burkhart’s Rose of Shanhasson! I missed it in my list yesterday. Looks to be an awesome read!
Hey JOJO! Great choices!
*Waves* hey my hunnie!!! Ya those all sound so good. can’t wait to read them!! Congrats on your win!
Hey Robin, good tip and one that have already tried and yes it makes coming back to Ann’s easier!!! Enjoy your book!

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thank you for the chance to win… what a fantastic idea! The lottery gives us a chance to be exposed to new authors (and I’m always looking for a new author to read!)
I just bought several of the books on the list, but my wishlist would have to be:
1. Shelli Stevens -Take Me
2. Victoria Dahl – Lead Me On (I’m reading her book “One Week as Lovers” right now!)
3. Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succubi (I have “Succubi like it hot” on my bookshelf right now waiting for me to read it)
4.Megan Hart – No Greater Pleasure (I have this one in eBook format, but I’d love to have it in paperback, since I have several of Megan’s books in print)
5. Elisabeth Naughton – Marked
Congratulations to the winners so far and good luck to everyone else!
Good choices Mama Kitty and good luck to you too, Ann always makes these fun and it is only the beginning of the lottery!!!!

That’s a great list of books to choose from. My top choices would be:
1. Carolyn Crane – Mind games – This was already on my TBR list.
2. Lauren Dane – Laid Bare – I read the Chase brothers series and loved it and this has gotten great reviews.
3. Victoria Dahl – Lead Me On – Have read all of her regencies, but none of her contemporaries.
4. Erica Hayes – Shadowglass – Wanted to read this series, but it isn’t available for Kindle and I don’t usually buy hard copy books anymore.
5. Diana Pharaoh Francis – Bitter Night – Another book that sounds great. I love gritty urban fantasy.
A question for you all: Do you think straight men read romance novels? Do you personally know of any who read them?
:ohh: :ohh: I have read on several posts Kelsey on different blog sites that the husbands of the blogger reads their romance novels on occasion and my own has picked up a book here and there and “browsed”, so yeah some straight men apparently do read ’em.
😉 😉
jackie b central texas
My husband and I will sometimes read my romance novels together. When he is bored, or when we are sitting in bed together, I will read aloud so he can hear all the juicy parts! 😉 And I know a lot of guys who read Urban Fantasy (which can have quite a bit of romance).
Maybe…I know my hubby doesn’t but I imagine some guys might dig it.
congrats Michelle
So after each reset, are we supposed to list our 5 top books in a post again?
I was wondering the same thing…….
I’d like to know too! lol Confused.
Jeri Smith-Ready
Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone
Carolyn Crane
Mind Games
Vivi Anna
The Vampire’s Quest
These books look good. Love vampire books!
😈 😆
Definitely! I loved vampire books waaay before Twilight!
I’m probably going to get lynched for saying this but I never really got into the whole Twilight phenomenon. I can be a bit of a book snob at times
As much as I love paranormal stories…these just didn’t reach out and say Read Me…
I know, I’m not a Twilight-fanatic either. It might be because I wasn’t a tween girl when I started reading the series. But I really do like the Twilight series, myself, but I’m not all ga-ga over them. 🙄
You know that I never got into the Twlight books or movies either. I like my vamps and shifters in over the top sexy storylines.
I’ve read the first Twilight book and I have the 2nd, but I’m not over the moon for them. They are okay.
The first Twilight movie was awful, I thought. But New Moon is actually a lot better and I enjoyed watching it. I think it had to do with a different director.
I loved the books! They are what realy got me back into reading! I thought the first movie was OK, but not the best. It was easier to watch for me because I’d read the book and new what was happening, but I had to explain allot of what was going on to others who hadn’t read them. The second was SO MUCH BETTER! I really liked it allot!
I can’t wait for Eclipse to come out! I’m really excited for the next two!
Now see I wasn’t really into them but I heard people talking about how good the Twilight series was so I decided to give it a try. I thought they were great but I am not such a fan that I go ga-ga for the whole thing.
I actually enjoyed the books. I didnt think the writing was the best ever but it wasnt bad enough that I did still get hooked into the story. The movies are ok but I thought the books were better.
What non-romance books do you read (if any)? Difference genres? Fiction/non-fiction?
I love to read mysteries/thrillers…Kay Hooper, Lisa Jackson, Lisa Gardner, Tami Hoag, Wendy Corsi Staub are a couple of authors whose work I like to read.
I am a die hard romance fan, and haven’t read a non-fiction book in years. Favorite genre’s are paranormal/fantasy or urban fantasy romances.
Fantasy and anything paranormal are my favorites too! I’ve read them for years.
I read just about anything I can get my hands on. I love paranormal romance, suspense, thrillers, historicals, humorous, sci-fi, fantasy, it has been a while since I have read non-fiction but I love history when I do.
Non-fiction is not one of my favorites. I’d like to read it, but I just get so bored and end up daydreaming through the whole book. The only non-fiction book I remember I liked was Anne Frank’s Diary.
I read a little bit of everything. A lot of books I read would probably be considered action/adventure. I have a weird liking for submarine adventures. I don’t read a ton of non-fiction, but I will pick up historical stuff from time to time.
I’m a romance junkie. Hate to admit it, but it’s true. At first, it was the paranormals…LKH, Kelley Armstrong…then a little Sci-Fi snuck in…Ann Aguirre…until eventually, the contemporary market blew up on me. How can you resist Erin McCarthy, Julie James, and Victoria Dahl? It’s impossible.
Hmm I’m another that reads most books 🙂
Particularly partial to murder/mystery, comedy anything that revolves around horses 😀
That reminds me of a series I used to read when I was younger. I think it was called The Saddle Club. It was about these three girls who rode horses. I loved them! 🙂
lol I never really read those but did read the Flicka books, Black Beauty (of course) and the whole series about the brumbies from Snowy Mountain. Loved those books.
Pretty much if it has a horse in it I’ll read it sigh and I’ve long left those teenage years where your expected to be horse mad.
I’m a huge fan of Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. Although once I got my nook, I found that my local library will let you check out ebooks as well, so I’ve been reading a lot of historical romances too. 😀 I will read pretty much anything I can get my hands on (in Fiction at least, not a huge non-fiction fan).
I mostly read stories that have some romance element to them. Paranormals mainly. But I love mysteries and thrillers as well and will read almost anything that sounds good. Pure non-fiction I am not fond of, but when you mix it up some with a story I enjoy it.
As long as there is romance, I’m usually good lol. I’m one of those people who look for the romance in everything 🙂
I’ve never voluntarily read anything non-fiction…pretty much only for assignments back in university. I’m a fiction hound… especially romances (all sub-genres). I need my happy endings like a daily nutrient. 😆
🙂 :wink:Anna if you like HEA stories you need to bone up on some of the ones written by Stephanie Tyler and Amanda Ashley. 2 different writing styles but both have some really good reads out….
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
jackie b central texas
I have read Amanda Ashley before but Stephanie is still a new author for me. I have her books on my wishlist but haven’t tried any as yet.
I don’t read much non-fiction. I love romance but it’s usually either paranormal romance or romantic suspense. I don’t read much straight up romance. I also love Urban Fantasy.
:ohh: Who is your favorite UF read right now Christie or rather reads?
Mine are the Hollows series by Kim Harrison, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, Women Of The Otherworld by Kelly Armstrong and The Dark Swan series by Richelle Mead to name only a few….
Jackie B Central Texas
My favorites are Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series. Patricia Briggs’ Mercedes Thompson and Alpha & Omega. Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress. Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse. Richelle Mead’s Georgina Kincaid series. I’m sure there are more but those are the ones I’m up to date on and anxiously awaiting the next in the series. I’ve read the first book in the Dark Swan and Women of the Otherworld series. LOVED them! I need to make time to read the rest in each series.
Yay another Jeaniene Frost and Karen Marie Moning groupie, are they not too good to put down!!!! Barron and Bones, do not know which one is the more popular right now but both have caused one heck of a following for these lucky authors!!!! 😈 😈 😈 😈
jackie b central texas
I agree both Barrons and Bones are great. Cant wait for both new stories for them.
I LOVE the Fever series too! Read all of them, and can’t wait for the next one.
I adore Bones but there is just something about Barrons. He makes me drool 😛
I agree Christie! Barrons is so my type of guy. He’s all stoic and close-lipped most of the time, but he still has a sense of humor. Sort of like Mr. Darcy actually…I love fictional crushes!
Wow, what a great contest, and what a lovely list of books.
Okay, my top five would be:
Beth Williamson
The Stranger’s Secrets
Jill Myles
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
Shiloh Walker
Hunter’s Need
Vivi Anna
The Vampire’s Quest
Any of these:
Cynthia Eden (2 winners)
ARC of I’ll be Slaying You
Eternal Hunter
These are authors I have already read and enjoyed!!!
Valerie
in Germany
Eternal Hunter by Cynthia Eden is a really great book! I could not put it down!
OMG i LUVED Eternal Hunter!!!!
Eternal Hunter was a wicked read!
Valerie, where in Germany do you live? We lived in Heidelberg for about 5 years. We just moved back to the US last summer.
Val lives in Potsdam, I live also in Germany. In Duisburg.
:smile:Been running errands so have to catch up…. I love Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance, today’s market has so many wonderful books to choose from it makes reading fun for any taste in any genre. I also have a fondness for mystery thrillers and action adventure!
It is really nice to see so many people these days have discovered a love of reading again….
:ohh: :ohh: :ohh: :ohh: :ohh: :ohh:
jackie b central texas
I totally agree it is great to see so many people reading!
I agree! But I wish more children and teenagers would read more. They seem so caught up in video/computer games, TV, movies, cell phones, iPods, etc. that they don’t take the time to see if they would enjoy reading.
Well I agree about today’s younger generation up to a point but almost all the book blogger sites that I have found are being run by believe or not teens and 20 something young adults for the most part. There are older people out there reading yes but there are also lots and lots of the young ones also…
And we are all no matter what age too hooked on all our electronics, case in point we are in front of our computers right now doing this contest!!!!
jackie b central texas 😉 😉
I never gave up reading to begin with
I got addicted to reading when I was about 6/7 and since then have been a chronic bookworm. I’m surprised I survived high school & university since more than half the time my head was buried in a romance. 😆
My five would be:
Tessa Dare
Goddess of the Hunt
Elisabeth Naughton
ARC of Marked
Cynthia Eden
ARC of I’ll be Slaying You
Shiloh Walker
Hunter’s Need
And Victoria Dahl
Lead Me On
This is a great contest!
Congrats Michelle!
What’s your favourite place to read?
I’m the type to seek out a dark corner and curl up and read…sorta like a bat and cat combined 😆
Definitely on my chair in my bedroom. It’s a really comfortable chair, with quilts and everything. My bedroom has everything I need, so I don’t have to get up and get something when I’m in the middle of a good book.
I’m the same…I like to curl up in bed and read…have my macbook on my tummy and just read away to my heart’s content.
Brightly lit room for me, my eyes need the light or get strained and dry….
Love to sit in my living room with my book in the recliner with the shutters and blinds open and the natural light streaming in and my reading light on. 2nd favorite place is laying in bed but since had cervical spine surgery that is not as comfortable anymore!
Outdoors in the back yard is soon to be happening again as spring is coming and the days are getting nicer in my part of Texas….
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
jackie b central texas
As sad as this sounds I read on the stairs to the second floor of my house. There are walls on both sides so it servers as a buffer to all the kid noise LOL If the kids are in bed I’ll sit on the couch and read.
I feel for you, when my DH is home and I want to read have to block out the Television no matter what room I am reading in the sound travels…
jackie b central texas
Jackie: fans block out noises really well! Either that, or have some classical music playing in the background.
I’m all about earplugs…I just plug’em in and blissfully avoid any noise that may interfere.
Hey Kelsey, fans do block out the noise in the summer time when it is warm. Right now have to use the exhaust fan in the bathroom outside our bedroom and as far as “longhair” music it puts me in a coma, I put on soft rock…
jackie b central texas
I love sitting in my cozy bed to read without having to get up for long periods of time…but I do have to get up once in a while and face the outside world 🙂
That outside world does eventually intrude does it not, okay my outside world says time for a shower and then watching Lost. Later and good luck to all!!!
jackie b central texas
G’nite Jackie…Have a wonderful night.
:blush:You caught me, good night Anna see everyone tomorrow. Have fun all!!
jackie b central texas
Definitely some place quiet! I don’t see how others can read while others are talking! I just can’t do it!
I’m a big fan of reading either on the couch wrapped up in a blanket, or in bed curled up in the covers. I’m very cat like in that way. 🙂
😀 Me too! It feels sooo good to curl up with a good book with a cozy blanket around you. Especially when my cat curls up and sleeps next to me. He’s so sweet!
it feels great to curl up with my new e-reader 😀 I don’t even have to get up for a new book now *g* gods. how lazy can one be?
I travel a lot for work so I guess that makes the airport my favorite place to read. 😀
My favorite place to read these days is sprawled across a bed. Daytime, or night time. I used to also enjoy reading on the couch – while reclining or otherwise… but these days, bed for me!
I will read anywhere I can. For the most part I can tune out things around me so it doesn’t interfer with my reading.
I’d love to win either of Cynthia Eden’s books or Jeri Smith Ready’s. I’ve heard such great things about both these authors but haven’t had a chance to read their books yet.
I love Jeri Smith-Ready’s books. I like her Aspect of Crow books more than her WVMP books…but I highly recommend her.
I’ve read her first Crow book. I liked it, but it’s not one of my favorite books. I’ve been meaning to order the next 2 from the library, but haven’t gotten around to it. Book overload here!
Have the first of the WVMP books and need to read them, have spent lots of time since Jeri came out with this series keeping up with her goings on with what is coming next and am eagerly awaiting her new YA book Shade….
jackie b central texas
Oh, I haven’t heard about her YA book Shade. I’ll have to keep an eye out for that one! Thanks for the heads up.
this was on Jeri’s blog 5/22/09 and contains the info:
{The first book, Shade, will be released in hardcover from Simon Pulse on May 15, 2010 (that date might shift forward or back a smidge, but basically: a year from now). Shade will be rereleased a year later in paperback to coincide with the hardcover edition of Book Two, Shift.}
I am like Jeri love the titles and you need to see the beuatiful cover of the first book it is a deep dark purple. Link:

congrats michelle!
I’m checking out for tonight. Have a wonderful night everyone!!!
thanks, you too!
Who is watching LOST? I am!!
I tried to watch the very first episode years ago and *I* got lost LOL. Its a very popular show, though!
I never got into this show. It seems like it’s been going on FOREVER! :ohh:
I’ve been watching since the beginning and I’m still confused. Tonights epi was lame 🙁
I have never watched a single episode of this show…I kind of don’t get the premise of it.
I have been watching Lost…I am not sure why I have hung on so long, but I think that it might have something to do with Sawyer.
I’m a Lost Fan, and then there’s Sawyer, too!
I always wanted to start watching but for some reason never did. Now that its ending I figure Ill wait and catch it somewhere else. Im sure it will be shown as repeats somewhere.
Megan Hart – No Greater Pleasure (You can’t go wrong with this author – auto buy)
Juliana Stone – His Darkest Hunger (I’ve been meaning to try this author)
Carolyn Crane – Mind Games (The excerpt sucked me in)
HelenKay Dimon – Leave Me Breathless (Long time fan)
Lauren Dane – Laid Bare (auto buy author)
Just read an excerpt from Bad To The Bone, gotta get this series, that’s for sure.
Now on to some of the others!
congrats robin and michelle!
whew! i’ll be slaying you, marked, and his darkest hunger is still in the pot! those are the three books i covet the most!
off to watch my newest tv obsession… criminal minds 🙂
Enjoy! My new TV obsession is Parenthood. I loved Gilmore Girls, and own some of the seasons, so I’m really glad Lauren Grahm (Lorelei) is in this show. Anyone else love Parenthood?
I have that one on my DVR but haven’t watched it yet. I loved Gilmore Girls too and was so excited to see Lauren Graham on TV again.
I know, so was I! I haven’t seen her on TV in forever! I love anything she’s in or Alexis Bledel is in.
I’m a big fan of Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, too. Did anyone see Post Grad?
Congrats to Robin and Michelle.
I actually only watched the first ep cos of Lauren Graham, but, no I do not think I will watch any more 🙁
I havent watched it yet, but I have been hearing great things. Going to have to start soon. I am really enjoying Life Unexpected too. Although I wish they hadnt moved it up an hour.
I haven’t seen Post Grad off to google it 🙂
It’s a cute movie, Christine.
Sorry I misspelled your name, Christie.
I want my posts to count for today, so I’m going to ask my question again in case someone who has the answer didn’t see it:
After each reset, are we supposed to list our 5 top books in a post again?
If I understand correctly, you don’t have to keep answering the top 5 question; you just have to keep posting and contributing to the ongoing discussion(s). So I think your post here counts 🙂 (Please, someone correct me if I’m wrong! ;))
Time for bed here in Louisiana 🙂
Goodnight!!
I can’t really answer the initial question, because I’m excited for all of the books 😀
Some of the authors are new to me, others I already know and like… and wouldn’t mind getting a signed copy *rubshandsinglee*
that would really be awesome.
thanks for the great contest
:::wave::: Hi CheeseBK!! 😀
Good Morning Everyone!
Good morning!!
Good morning. Or early afternoon depending on where you are. 🙂
Hmmm favorite place to read:
Would be in bed with the covers over my head and the only thing peeking out is my kindle; if someone comes in all they see is a lump, which means do not disturb. hmmm maybe thats why i have that kink in my shoulder, oh well.
My favorite place to read is snuggled on the couch. Although, I really can read just about anywhere.
Congrats to Robin and Michelle!
Congratulations to Michelle! And… seconding Kelsey’s question – of books awarded are on someone’s original 5 list, should they create a new one?
[So far I’ve picked other books 😛 but you know, good to know, right?]
And for a question … who is your favorite romance author? Any genre, alive or dead, but you can only pick *one.* Bad of me to ask that question, since I don’t think I can answer it
that’s a question I could never answer – there are a lot of authors who write fantastic books!!! so, no answer from my side 😉
Oooh…you certainly don’t ask easy questions…just one fave romance author? How bout my current absolute fave? I’m going with Shiloh Walker because I am just totally digging her work…she’s a new author for me and I’m steadily working my way through her backlist of titles.
Ooo – I’ve read a few Shiloh Walker books, and have more in my TBR – I recently bought Broken but I’ve been in a reading slump :X
Need to remedy that…
Nora Roberts. I LOVE her!
Christie – I always anticipate going into hiding after admitting this… but I’ve only read like 3 Nora Roberts books ever. :X I just… haven’t really read NR.
My favorite place to read is snuggled up on the couch next to my hubby.
It may sound mundane but we only just got a couch last month! I’ve been reading all alone in a chair for YEARS… 😉
Oh I love to read everywhere, you never find me without a book, but my favorite place is on the couch or in the bed.
Oh i have my book everywhere i go too. My fav. place to read is my little reading nook i created in my office! I am always there!
I plan to get a reading nook, when I am moving in the near future.
What is everyone reading right now?
I’m bouncing between Need by Carrie Jones, White Cat by Holly Black and Red-Headed Stepchild by Jaye Wells.
I just refinished re-reading some of the Nauti books by Lora Leigh and reading the last two for the first time. Now I am re-reading A Mermaid’s Kiss by Joey W. Hill and I will be reading the next two books in this series after this one.
I haven’t read the Nauti series but they’re on my (GIANT) TBR list. I’ve never heard of A Mermaid’s Kiss. I’ll have to check it out on Goodreads 🙂
I’ve never tried Joey’s work…I did win a copy of A Mermaid’s Ransom but I’m hanging on to it until I can get the other two in the series. What do you think of her stories?
I read everything I can by Joey. She is great. Her stories can really pull you in and I have cried with her stuff and that is not easy for an author to do.
She gets me every time. Though she will tell you she doesn’t write anything that doesn’t have an HEA.
she also has a vampire series that is great too. I have read all those ones and am waiting on the next one in May.
I’m reading Through the Veil by Shiloh Walker, Blood Vice by Keith Melton, Dare to Surrender by Lilli Feisty. (just recently started reading them).
I just finished reading Chains by Shiloh Walker, Shifter’s Captive by Bonnie Dee, Becoming Three by Cameron Dane, Family Unit by Z.A. Maxfield and Coming Home by Ava Rose Johnson.
I read Family Unit awhile ago and really liked the book. Coming home is waiting on my Sony
I am reading Too hot for a rake by Pearl Wolf & Bittercreek’s redemption by TA Chase
I just downloaded a bunch of books on my nook. I’m finished the third Scion book by Michelle Patrice, then moving on to Jazz Baby by Loreli Brown. 🙂
I am so not reading the same things as you guys. LOL! Right now, I am reading Seth Grahame-Smith’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Before that, Michael Crichton’s Andromeda Strain.
I just finished The Vision by Heather Graham and tonight am planning to start Sleep No More by Susan Crandall
Im reading Veil of midnight by: Lara Adrian I lurve the Breed!!!!! Next I’m reading beautiful creatures
I’d LOVE to win White Cat! I’ve entered into a contest to win an ARC, and I can’t wait to see who won! Right now, I’m reading The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. I LOVE this series. It’s not just for kids either. I’m almost done with it.
Eek I’ve been in a major reading slump. I could almost call it epic :\ There were 2-3 books I read recently that I *loved* – Slow Heat by Jill Shalvis, Leave Me Breathless by HelenKay Dimon, and… Maya Bank’s upcoming Sweet Temptation.
But reading now? Just re-reading bits from old favorites/keepers. Am about to start a new HelenKay book though – normally I don’t read Harlequin Intrigue, but hope springs eternal 🙂
Need is one I’ve been wanting! And Red Headed Step Child! I’ve forced myself not to buy any books this month (though I’ve received sever from paperbackswap) but it’s just so tempting! I do need to order something from amazon anyway and might need to throw something in, just to get it up to $25 for the free shipping, you know.
I’m reading Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse) by Charlaine Harris. It’s a nice fast read. I’m trying to finish up The Hollows as I’m going to meet Kim Harrison on the 25th (woo hoo!) and want to be current, other then the one just released. I’m obsessed with signed copies! But The Hollows is one of my favorite series, for sure! I only have one book to go! Will be sad when I’m done with them all 🙁 🙁 🙁
I’m reading What would Emma do? It’s a young adult book. It’s actually pretty good, though a bit immature for me! lol The book has a lot of funny parts in it.
*argh* I missed the first two days 🙁 but here I am *gg*
and for my first post here is my “wishlist”:
Moira Rogers – Sanctuary (I’ve the first book here and can’t wait to start with reading!!)
Beth Williamson -The Stranger’s Secrets
Jess Granger – Beyond the Shadows (I’Ve heard a lot of good things about that one)
Erica Hayes – Shadowglass (*wohoo* just started with Shadowfae and you won’t miss it!!)
Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succub (I really like the excerpts of that one)
congrats to the first two winners!!! enjoy reading!!
so, what else? ah, here it’s snowing!!! can you believe it? it’s already March and I don’t want more of that :/
see you soon,
Ina
Everyone was busy last night!
My favorite place to read is snuggled on the couch with the kitties. I have big, fluffy cushions and I just sink into it.
Good morning everyone. Just wanted to pop by and see how everyone was. I have been watching the discussions and lurking in the darkest corner.
My ten cents… I went coo coo for all things Twilight. Framed the poster in my office. Where do I read, I love snuggling into the crook of my couch with a lighted fire, pop and popcorn 🙂 Books are my movies. I am currently reading Highland Surrender and am going to delve into some paranormal as soon as I am done. Got to mix up the Scotts with some fangs.
Robyn,
it’s funny because I was or still am caught by the Lord of the Rings fever, like you are with Twilight.
Oh i loved the twilight series. Thats what got me back into reading. i stopped reading for years. decided to try twilight because i heard such great things, then couldn’t put it down! Now hubs asks if im ever gonna slow down reading! LOL not likely in the near future!
My top 5 would be
Shadowglass
Magic & Madness
The Vampire’s Quest
Beyond the Shadows
and I know it’s not on the contest list but my 5th would be Hell Fire
My favorite place to read is in my den in the recliner.
Okay, I am curious today, does anyone listen to music while reading or do you need to have it quiet?
I love to listen to music while reading, especially when it’s something that fits to the mood of the story.
LOL! I can listen to music or even have the the TV on. I read a lot at the airport so I am really good at tuning out.
I find if I am putting on music specifically for reading, I tend to put on Big Band aka 40’s music. The soundtrack from Bram Stoker’s Dracula is a favorite too.
Speaking of fav CD’s to listen to when reading, mine is Voices by Vangelis. I have the music really quiet, but where I can still hear it. It’s so relaxing, too!
No music but the TV doesn’t bother me. I don’t need silence but if it is quiet I won’t complain 😉 With three kids my house is rarely quiet though.
i def. do music. i have my reading music up on my blog. When i read, certain songs just stand out to me that i feel go with the story i am reading.
And here i thought i was the only one that did this! LOL
I always have the tv on. I like background noise. If things are too quiet I actually have more trouble concentrating because I’m focusing on all the little noises.
Yup *waves hand* I do. I can have music playing in the background – loud or low – and read to my heart’s content. If it’s a fight scene or a particularly emotional one that connects with it – even better. 😉
It’s totally depends on my mood…for the most part I like reading in the quiet. Sometimes though I don’t mind some music playing lightly in the background.
I can’t listen to music that has words in it when I’m reading, because I’ll end up listening to what the singer is saying and I get distracted from reading! Slow classical music I can do, though. I usually have a fan going when I’m reading, because lately, a REAL QUIET house bugs me.
My top five would be:
1. Jill Myles-Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
2. Jess Granger-Beyond the Shadows
3. Juliana Stone-His Darkest Hunger
4. Megan Hart-No Greater Pleasure
5. Vivi Anna-The Vampire’s Quest
Why these five? Because I haven’t read any books from these authors. I need to broaden my reading material and these books sound pretty good to me. 🙂
Aside from the great books listed above and of course Hell Fire.
What books coming out is everyone looking forward to this year?
Other than the ones listed are
*Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
*Succubus Shadows by Richelle Mead
*Linger by Maggie Stiefvater
*Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris
*Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning
*The Darkest Edge of Dawn by Kelly Gay
I’m sure there are more but these are my top picks.
Some of my most anticipated are the same as Christie’s!
*Succubus Shadows by Richelle Mead
*Linger by Maggie Stiefvater (SO excited!!!)
*Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris
*Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning (Gonna go crazy waiting for Shadowfever!)
*Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr
*Burned by PC and Kristin Cast
*Honeymoon of the Dead by Tate Hallaway
*Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead
*Early to Death, Early to Rise by Kim Harrison
*Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost
*Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
My list could go on, but that’s a few.
I can’t wait for Magic Bleed by Ilona Andrews! 😀
Since my list is still there, and I really can’t think of anything witty to say, here’s a repost of my list and a question.
When going to a bookstore, do you tend to prefer smaller stores or the larger ones?
me I prefer any bookstore that has the books I want.
I am not picky I just want the books when I want them.
I can totally agree with that. But what about when you’re looking for new stuff?
Same here. And definitely not Amazon, especially in Germany. They are driving me nuts. So I wait for my US trips to buy books.
I guess I like big. My favorite bookstore of all time is Powell’s City of Books in Portland, OR. It is like my dream store.
OMG I LOVE Powell’s unfortunately it isn’t any where close to where I am now. Unless I go on the internet. That works but not nearly as fun as wandering around the store.
It isn’t close to me either as I live in Wisconsin. But I get there from time to time. 😀
i like the bigger stores. they seem to carry a better selection. in the town i live in all we have is walmart…..and their selection sucks! so i wait till i can go to barnes and noble or i order online!
I can understand that, our closest bookstore here is the campus bookstore, and its selection is pretty bad. Where do you order online from?
Oh def. bookdepository.com the best online book store ever. the prices ROCK!!!
Checking it out now, sounds awesome.
My favorite bookstore is also Powells in downtown Portland and it’s HUGE but you can get new and used and it has more of a small bookstore feel (other then the huge size, lol). What I mean is the shelves go WAY high and it smells like an old bookstore. I’m so lucky to live here! I go every year on my bday and get a HUGE stack of books. I go other times during the year too, of course.
I order a lot of books online (amazon) and go to the small used bookstore but rarely find exactly what I want, but I love the feel and smell of the place anyway. I also use my Borders coupons when I get them.
All these mentions of Powells kind of makes me wish I lived close enough to go check it out. The only things we seem to have here are a place that only does vintage copies of stuff I like and political science journals, and Barns and Noble.
Well there really are only large chain store bookshops left in my city that actually carry all the sub-genres of romance that I read. The few small bookshops that are left mostly carry fiction & lit that I rarely read. I do purchase a lot of ebooks from all over the place…Loose Id, Samhain, Fictionwise, EC, Amber Quill, Changeling Press, Wild Rose Press, AMP, All Romance…
Wow, I haven’t really looked into ebooks, so I didn’t know there were that many sites for them. That’s really cool.
I haven’t read any of the authors above! Which is strange since I’m a paranormal junkie but I’ve only been reading them for 2 years and I read other genres too.
I’ve heard of Anya Bast and that she’s great but that books gone : (
I’m sure all the others are great though and I’m going to be spending all day looking them up and researching the authors!
You really cant go wrong with anyone on the list especially if you like the paranormal.
Reset!
Someone asked what the reset does. It starts the lottery over for the books remaining in the pool. (If those won above aren’t claimed in a week, they get redrawn.)
And yes, you should post a new 5 book list after each drawing to keep things current.
Sweet…I’m still good…my choices are still available…*whew*
I’ve been considering starting reading Bree/Donna’s works since I’ve heard so many good things about their books written as Moira Rogers. What would you recommend to start off with?
Thirteenth Step is one of my favorites, and a good introduction to their work, I think.
Whee – thanks so much for clearing that up, Ann!
I’m still good for my 5!!! *fingers crossed*

Since I’m not sure if my comments are going to count without re-posting my top 5 each day, I guess I’ll just post it again:
I’m really excited to read Shadowglass, Goddess of the Hunt, Jeri Smith-Ready’s books, and Shiloh Walker’s Broken.
Oooh I’m debating whether to read Shadowglass b/c I read Shadowfae but was a bit disappointed with it when there was so much hype about it. Still undecided whether to continue the series =/
That’s happened to me a lot: First book is dumb, but debating whether to read the 2nd. I guess we’ll never know until we read them!
Did it have some sort of resolution specifically a happy ending or did it leave you hanging?
Just a quick note that for me Shadowfae had a sort of resolution but not exactly a HEA like we are used to reading Anna, hoping the 2nd book Shadowglass does more for my expectations going in..
Curious to see what others think!
:smile:Jackie B Central Texas
Congrats to MamaKitty!

Hopefully I’ll get one of them *fingers crossed*
@CupK8 March 10th, 2010 at 12:53 am
Ah, DRM. I don’t do DRM – it’s too much trouble. And I like to roam free. 😎
Yes. Most of my Kindle books are via feedbooks. Ahh, classics.
I don’t get drm books either…I just like a simple .pdf download 😀
congrats MamaKitty 😀
my list is the same one *gg*
First of all big congrats Mama Kitty!
Here is the repost of my Top5:
Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
She was my guest on the Loveromances and More blog and her books sound really good.
Cynthia Eden – Eternal Hunter
I love her books and wasn’t able to get a copy of this book so far.
The following authors and books are all new to me, but I think it is a great chance to try a new author
Tessa Dare
Goddess of the Hunt
Jess Granger
Beyond the Shadows
Erica Hayes
Shadowglass
wtg winners
Good Afternoon everyone else…
Jackie B Central Texas
😉
Okay to repost after the reset my 5 top picks that I would still wish for are:
3. Elizabeth Naughton/ “Marked” ARC would love to win this one because it is 50 days to release date …
4. Juliana Stone/ “His Darkest Hunger” want the book because it is the first one in the new series and am in love with the characters Jaxon and Libby …
5. Denise A Agnew/ “Primordial” looked it up and even though the book came out in 2004 it is set in the rainforest in the (dark and dangerous jungle) and would love to try out an author new to me….
😐 😐 😐 😐

congrats MamaKitty
Now I’m getting paranoid, so repost:
Lauren Dane – Laid Bare (I’m getting a reviewers copy of this and am so excited!!!!)
Carolyn Crane – Mind Games (The buzz around this has been huge)
Juliana Stone – His Darkest Hunger (I’m a cover slut. I’ll admit it.)
Jess Granger – Beyond the Shadows (The reviews have been amazing so far)
Erica Hayes – Shadowglass (I have a thing for demons, lol)
Wow, resets are fast! Congrats MamaKitty!
Reposting my list..
Scoundrel’s Kiss
Mind Games
Mistress by Mistake
Goddess of the Hunt
Beyond the Shadows
But I’d be pretty happy with most of them and only own one or two on the list.
my top five at the moment 🙂
Moira Rogers – Crux and Sanctuary
Lauren Dane – Laid Bare
Beth Williamson – The Stranger’s Secrets
Shiloh Walker – Hunter’s Need
a couple of questions – Do you keep all your books or just some? Or do you mainly use a library?
For myself I can’t afford to buy books all the time so use a library but have also started selling my books once read via http://www.trademe.co.nz (kinda like ebay) to then use that money to buy more books lol
 Emmad, I am ashamed to say do
not get to the public library anymore to check out books. I keep most of my books as since weeded out they are almost all book series. I have over the years bought, traded and even checked out from the library to feed the need to read. Right now my biggest fun find is to get books and recycle mine her at this member site: http://www.paperbackswap.com
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
jackie b central texas
I’m a paperbackswap addict! Got one today as a matter of fact! And have one I need to mail out, thanks for the reminder!
I have to say it is nice to meet someone else who is a PBS member, they were a lucky find for me as got tired of just “giving” my books away when went to the used book store to trade them in for money or books…. I am addicted to and am eagerly awaiting 2 more books in the mail in the next several days and have 1 that is on a wish list members hold that will need to mail out when they ask for the book from me.. PBS is fun and my wish list and reminder list and TBR piles are huge now.
jackie b central texas 😉
Paper Back Swap is great. I also use Bookmooch but it doesn’t usually have what I want. Of course that’s the place I have a ton of points for swapping.
I recently signed up for Goodreads but the books on swap aren’t up for any specifications unless you notify them of your specifics. The first book I got was an ARC in the original ARC paper, not even a regular cover and it was water damaged. The second book had a broken spine (it was hardcover) by the third book I knew to ask about the condition. I’m not always picky, but I want to be able to get rid of it if I don’t like it and I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t feel right listing it in poor condition or an ARC.
I haven’t tried Goodreads swap but I know most of the books I’ve received from Bookmooch and PBS have had broken spines. It makes me crazy because I’m so good to my books. 👿
I’m in the same boat. I can’t afford to buy all the books I want to read. Even though it’s annoying to have to wait through so many people to get the book at the library, it’s worth it to save a lot of money!
I keep all my books…I used to go to the library about 5/6 years ago but nowadays I purchase my books. I read a lot of ebooks so that’s quite cost effective…I do still buy print books…I actually recently learnt about The Book Depository which is going to be a huge help in keeping my print book costs down. As for Bookswap and other programs like that…since I live in Canada I don’t qualify for them (which sucks big time 👿 )
Have you tried Book Mouch? I think they include Canada.
I tried the Bookswap thing, and to be honest I just didn’t care for it. Maybe I’m too picky or maybe I just like buying books… 🙂
I’ll have to try them out…I’m not familiar with it. Thanks for the suggestion.
I mostly buy all of mine. Books are like kids to me, I can’t let them go! LOL Even ones I don’t even like that much I feel the need to keep! 🙂
I completely agree. I am so not a children person. My books take the place of children in my life. I am extremely hesitant to lend my books to anyone. I only give them out to people I really, really trust. And even then I’m paranoid about how they’re treating my “babies.” 🙂 I know, I’m a nerd, you can say it. I won’t get mad. 😉
😉 Kelsey if you are a nerd than so are a lot of us bookies, myself included. I have no human children and my pets and my books take the place of that in my life as well sad though that may sound to some… I do not ever loan out books anymore that is one thing I learned the hard way! However it has taken many many years for me to be able to even take the books off the shelves once bought and read until it got to the point I needed a house just to house the books. Nowadays I still have too many but only keep the ones that are series in MMPB or HB that I truly love and plan on re-reading.
jackie b central texas
I don’t know about children, but books have been something like friends for me for a good portion of my life. That said, if I do not enjoy a book I trade it in at the Book Rack and hope that the next person who buys it enjoys it.
Oh, I loaned out books to a friend last year and have YET to get them back! Infact, I don’t think she even knows where they are at! AH well. My fault on that one 🙂
I have kids, but my books are my special ‘me’ thing. I think half of my reading addiction is the books! I want books all around me! Before we moved into our house last fall we lived in an apartment and I had books shoved in the back of cupboards! I had them in boxes (very sad, and hard for me to do, but had no choice) stuffed under the bed and in the closet and even in my daughters dresser drawers. Oh, and I once got two HUGE boxes of books off of freecycle and the boxes didn’t fit in my car so I had to pile them in my trunk and I had to tie the trunk down cause it wouldn’t even close! I had to drive all the way across town with a trunk so full of books that everyone could see my addiction! And it’s a Pontiac G6, a pretty big car! Then I had bags of books (I had to get them in somehow!) lining the walls through the whole apartment. Many of those books are the ones on paperbackswap because if I pay for a book I usually keep it. And most of the ones I get off of pbs I keep. I do still use the library too though. Sorry, that’s all a bit long winded. Oh, I must add that our new house has built in shelves in our room, the formal living room and the hallway and they go all along the ceiling. My books are finally home! I’m pretty sure they are much happier now!
Kelsey, you are so not alone on being protective of your books. I’ve given out books only twice in my life…the first time I got it back with creased pages 👿
The next time…(because I’m an optimistic sucker) I lent out two books and never got them back 👿
As a result, I never loan out my books…waay too much stress. 😡
I swap books back and forth with my Mom all the time. It is a bit different than lending them to a friend, but we read a lot of the same stuff and it is nice to have someone to talk with about the books.
I keep those I really like, but sometimes I give away books I liked on bookmooch. Trying to spread the love.
I used to get most books from the library but that is before I discovered the vast world of the internet and the lovely bookmooch
Reposting my list again!

Juliana Stone-His Darkest Hunger
what do you think of the Night Huntress series by Jeanine Frost? I’m thinking of checking out the series, and I want to get a few opinions before I do.
😈 😈 😈 😈
Read all the books out so far and have to tell you that if you do not read about the adventures of Bones and Cat you are missing out on some good storytelling… There are many reviews out there on this series and they are all saying the same thing “If you have not bought the books in the Night Huntress series, what are you waiting for?”. I am not sure about library checkout but may be able to find the beginning of the series “Halfway To The Grave” in a used bookstore cheap somewhere to start you off… Now there is of course the Night Huntress World spin-off series with First Drop Of Crimson out now to read also…
jackie b central texas
Its a great series and if you get the chance you should totally check it out. The adventures of Cat and Bones are not some to be missed.
I love Cat and Bones. I liked First Drop of Crimson, veering away from them a bit to delve into stories for other characters, too.
It’s a fantastic series. One of my favorites.
Yep, Bones and Cat are AWESOME! I just read the 1st spin off and loved it too!
OMG That series is sooo awesome! It’s a definately must read! 🙂
I didn’t get a chance to check out any more excerpts today, but hope to later.
I’d love to win Jeri Smith-Ready’s books, they both sound great!
I won? Really? HOW COOL IS THAT!? Thank you Ann!! You are made of awesome! 😀
I’ve been reading comments through my email (and had to turn off the notifications because my inbox got mad at me! lol), but I wanted to jump in on the conversation… probably a bit late, but that’s my forte it seems. haha.
I’m not a big non-fiction reader. I used to when I was young (and I mean really young… I was reading Shakespeare by 4th grade and moved onto romance by 13-ish, so it was around that time, I think). I haven’t seen a non-fiction book that’s grabbed my attention enough to want to read it. My mom gave me the book Scott Petersen’s sister wrote about him, but it sat on my shelf for so long that I think I may have sold it to Half-Priced Books the last time I cleaned off my shelves.
I cannot tell a lie: I am a Twilight fan. I picked it up one day in the library while avoiding going home to my (now ex-)husband. I saw the cover (yes, I’m a cover-judger) and read the back of the book. When I saw that it was a vampire love story, I checked it out. I only found out after I started reading it that it was a YA novel, but that’s ok. I’m still young enough (or so I tell myself) that it’s ok to enjoy a YA novel (I’m 26, but don’t tell anyone, haha). I liked the first three books, but was fairly disappointed in the 4th. And the movies… What can I say about them? The first one was kind of lame, but I did love watching Edward, Jasper, Emmett, & Carlisle on screen. The second was far better, but they messed up everyone’s hair (especially Jasper, who looked like a brillo pad!). I really enjoyed watching Taylor Lautner on screen (17 is legal in Texas! …even if I wouldn’t touch him. Just admire from afar). I have high hopes for Eclipse. I just hope they don’t blow it.
So do I. Since the 2nd movie was better than the 1st, the 3rd should be even better! I can’t wait for this movie to come out. I won’t be going the first day though….craaazy twilight fans scare me. 😮
I love Jasper in the movie though. I think he does a good job playing his role of wanting to attack Bella all the time.
Five I wanted were still up there! Here they are….
Tessa Dare
Goddess of the Hunt
Elisabeth Naughton
ARC of Marked
Cynthia Eden
ARC of I’ll be Slaying You
Shiloh Walker
Hunter’s Need
And Victoria Dahl
Lead Me On
my five are still up there also:
crux
mind games
wicked games
bad to the bone
shadowglass
🙂
Not sure if I’m doing this right, but copy/paste seems to be my friend.
Lauren “Gentlemen Prefer Succubi” by Jill Myles not only has a fun title but the book is fun to read and I am now wanting the 2nd book in the series and just have not gotten it yet. If you win this one Jackie Brighton will be a happy reading experience for you…
Crux by Moira Rogers is also a good start to their new series and can truly say it was a delight to read as well, and Bree and Donna are nice ladies too….
😆 😆 :lol:Jackie B Central Texas
That’s good to hear, I’ve picked books up based on the title and blurb before and been disappointed, so it’s nice to hear from someone who’s read those. 😀
Definetely number one would have to be Roger’s Crux. Has been on my list for a few months, but Ive never gotten the time to go buy it.
Second would have to be Mind Games BY Carolyn Crane. It just sounds amazing.
Third would have to be.. Goddess of the Hunt by Dare. I love historical romance, especially those set in the English period.
Fourth, Hunter’s Need by Walker.
and fifth but not least.. Shadowglass by Erica Hayes. I have heard so much about it.. good stuff that is 🙂
I recently got a kindle so I’m considering buying it on there if its available… does anyone else use a kindle to frequently read books such as these?
congrats mamakitty!
yay! my top 5 is still in the pot:
Marked
His Darkest Hunger
I’ll Be Slaying you
On the Steamy Side
Beyond the Shadows
ok, i think there’s a twilight discussion going on (when is there ever not)? my 2 cents: not a fan. i read book one but i didn’t like it so i never read the rest of the series. i watched the 1st movie and i didn’t like it. i haven’t watched the 2nd and i don’t know if i ever will but at least i gave twilight a try and know it’s not for me. i am thankful that twilight got so many people reading again 🙂
I watched the first movie on Pay Per View, watched the 2nd movie “New Moon” with
my DH in a theatre full of screaming girls and their Twi-Moms on release weekend!!!!
I will not read the books, will not buy the books, and am not exactly a fan just thought the premise was interesting and wanted to see how it translated on the movie screen. I am sorry to say this but cannot stand the character of Bella and am not really too thrilled with Edward either. Then again I am not the target age group for this series anyway….
I am however happy like you Chelley that Twilight and Stephanie Meyer rekindled people reading!!!!!
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
jackie b central texas
I have to agree. Bella and Edward just seem so involved with each other and ignore everyone else. That’s not how couples should be, but I guess that’s how teenage couples are.
Do you think Edward is abusive toward Bella?
Thats what I love about the new popularity of paranormal’s. Even is one isnt your type theres so many others to try!
Edward is abusive towards Bella, and its pretty disturbing the lengths some of the fans will go to explain that away. Not a fan of the series though, stopped reading half-way through the second one, couldn’t finish it.
I like Twilight but not a fan of the first movie and haven’t seen the second yet. The fourth book didn’t really impress me, it was a little weird. But I enjoyed the series for the most part and it really excited me that it has gotten SO many people reading! Young Adult books are more popular then ever too, which I like.
Oh, and I must add, I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED The Host and I’m not a sci fi alien fan. This was so different then I expected. LOVED it!
Oh my word. THE HOST!! Insanely AWESOME book! I think I like it even better than Twilight. Much more mature, too. I went out and bought it at Half-Price Bookstore, and I’m so glad I did! I have to read the book again sometime.
Forgot to say that Stephenie Meyer might make The Host into a series. I really, really hope she decides to write a series, or at least a sequel.
I didn’t know I was opening a can of worms by beginning the Twilight discussion. Wow. 😀
I need to look into The Host series, think it might be more my cup of tea to read. Kelsey Twilight is fun to discuss as there are so many people with so many different opinions on the books and the movie versions….
Good night all see you in the am…
Good Luck!
jackie b central texas 🙂
I thought The Host was awesome too and hate that it gets so many crap reviews. I’d love to see it turned into a trilogy and read somewhere that Stephenie Meyer planned to do just that. I also loved the Twilight series until Breaking Dawn (don’t get me started LOL). I think people wanted The Host to be a Twilight replacement but it was just so NOT like Twilight hence the poor reviews on so many sites.
Christie: That’s so sad! I hadn’t heard of people giving it poor reviews. It so doesn’t deserve it! I guess that’s the negative aspect of writing an immensely popular book/series. People will always compare your newest books to your most popular one(s).
Kelsey, It is sad. It’s a great book that will always be stuck in Twilight’s shadow. I’ve met a good share of folks that do love it but also many that hated it or won’t read it because they *think* they’ll hate it (because it’s not Twilight).
I agree that people were expecting something Twilight like and so were disappointed in The Host. I didn’t expect anything like Twilight but wasn’t really into the whole alien thing so it sat on my shelf for a year before I made myself read it. I read it and immediately shoved it into the hands of my SIL and told her she HAS to read it! She’s put it off for a few months now, but when she finishes I plan to send it to my mom and anyone else who will read it. It’s so different from Twilight that I can’t really compare them, but I may have enjoyed The Host more as well.
I have it on my shelf but I have mixed feelings on alien storylines. I will read it one day when the right mood hits. It just hasnt happened yet.
I will say that without reading it, I am not sure it deserved all the negative reviews it got. I agree that people were really expecting another Twilight. When she was really trying something new, which good for her.
I haven’t read many alien books. Actually, I really can’t remember any books I’ve read in the past with alien storylines. But I agree with you: they’re not the kind of books I go looking for at the library.
Kaitlyn O’Connor & Madeleine Montague writes great alien stories. Their world building capabilities always take me aback. 😀
My 5:
Diana Pharoah Francis
Bitter Night
Jill Myles
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi

Congratulations to MamaKitty!
I’m going to repost my list but… without the “why” because that went up with the original comment. (Hopefully that suffices, just trying to cut down on space.)
Elisabeth Naughton- Marked
Louisa Edwards – On the Steamy Side
Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succubi Victoria Dahl – Lead Me On
Juliana Stone – His Darkest Hunger
Woah that’s a lot of comments!! Jumping in a bit late here but here goes

2. Shiloh Walker’s “Hunter’s Need”
3. Victoria Dahl’s “Lead Me On”
4. Cynthia Eden’s “I’ll Be Slaying You”
5. Maggie Robinson’s “Mistress by Mistake”
Congrats, Michelle. I hope you enjoy Proof by Seduction as much as I did. The main characters each had traumas that affected them, which made them leery to acknowledge their feelings, the hero turning off his emotions. Yet, he is drawn to her, battles wits along with, and can be humorous at moments. I like how he baffled he is when he later attempts to interact with others instead of being so aloof. There’s a key secondary character, and I liked how the writing blended his part in smoothly, without taking away from the main couple. Can’t wait to read her next.
Thanks Pam for sharing what you thought about it. I have to admit it sounded good reading the blurb. But now it sounds even better. I will have to keep an eye out on a chance to read it.
I was wondering. Do we need to update our wish list every time someone wins a book on it?
Sue,
Ann said it would be better to repost it everytime
Michelle, congrats on winning Courtney’s book. Proof by Seduction was very good. She managed to portray two characters with issues afraid to feel, developing them along, yet with a good battle of wits and humor, even by the hero eventually who’s made himself so aloof, afraid to feel. I liked seeing him baffled later in the story, attempting to be more social and interact with others. Also, liked how there is a key secondary character which plays in well with the story for main H/h. Enjoy!
Good morning everyone!
Hope you all have a great day.
Good Morning to you too! I hope your day is awesome!!
Morning Katie & Danny! Have a wonderful day! 😀
Good morning 😎 It’s supposed to be in the high 70’s and sunny here today so I thought this smilie was needed.
Morning Christie…it’s nice and sunny here too…about 3 degrees celsius…so it’s like gorgeous weather 😀
:smile:Good Morning, the sun is shining and it is in the 60’s here in Central Texas.

Good morning. We are having an unusally warm day for this time of year today as well. I hate to be inside.
Afternoon, t-shirt weather here in AL . Hope everyone’s day has been good so far.
Has anyone bought any books recently? If so, what have you purchased or received? If not, what’s on your immediate purchase wish list?
I just got Jazz Baby by Loreli Brown the other day, and I can’t wait for Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs. (on the non-PR front, I can’t wait for the next Bride Quartet Book by Nora Roberts that comes out next month!)
Just bought both Chloe Neill books, Some Girls Bite and Friday Night Bites, Something About You by Julie James, and Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas. Job #2 is at a bookstore, LOL.
I went a little crazy and bought these on Saturday…The bookshop was having a 20% off sale and I just couldn’t resist…

Hunting the Hunter by Shiloh Walker
Chains by Shiloh Walker
Tie Me Down by Tracy Wolff
Heart of the Wolf by Terry Spear
Hotter After Midnight by Cynthia Eden
Exclusive by Eden Bradley, Jaci Burton, Lisa Renee Jones (on sale for like $4)
I have Broken by Shiloh Walker on the way. I am hoping it arrives soon. Cant wait to read it. Fragile was awesome. A friend just read Something About You by Julie James and said it was awesome. So I am looking forward to getting that too. And I just got Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler, looking forward to getting into it.
I went a little ebook crazy this week with all the sales and promo codes floating around.
*Three Days to Dead by Kelly Meding
*Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James
*Twice as hot by Gena Showalter
*Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep
*On the Edge by Ilona Andrews
Plus a few bargain books when I stopped by Books A Million earlier this week.
*Dream Warrior by Sherrilyn Kenyon
*Carpe Demon and Deja Demon by Julie Kenner
Oh yeah the discounts are always tempting. The last couple of weeks I bought a lot of ebooks at Fictionwise
Hey Anna. Just bought Some Girl’s Bite by Chloe Neill
Break of Dawn by Chris Marie Green
Dead Matter by Anton Strout
My Zombie Valentine Anthology.
Got all from The Book Depository so am waiting for the mail to deliver this next week. I also have a huge wish list over at PBS and Goodreads but some of those are not released yet so have to wait….
:grin:Jackie B Central Texas
I just bought All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks just the other day. I have already finished it 🙂 I love that series
This series really rocks. Can’t wait to read the newest one
I agree. I love that series. I am really looking forward to the newest one.
I picked up a book by a new author yesterday…Dark & Deadly by Jeanne Adam (romantic suspense) as well as a copy of Big Bad Wolf by Christine Warren (paranormal romance).
I love Christine Warren! It’s pretty cool they’re re-releasing the first books in her series. I love ebooks in all, but heart lies in paperback. She extended them, as well, didn’t she?
Congrats MamaKitty!
I recently ordered a few books…they are all young adult titles. I bought Gone, Before I Fall, and Match Made in High School. I go in spurts between reading adult and young adult stuff…there is so much great young adult stuff out there right now.
I hope that everyone has a great day…I am off to work. Have to go in early as my daughter has a dentist appointment today.
Lori, I do the same thing. I read by mood mainly and tend to almost alternate between YA and adult books. There are many authors I already read published now in both genres. And there are a lot of new YA authors coming out that are writing in the paranormal genre which is my favorite.
Crux
Shadowglass
Mind Games
Twist
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
I just ordered Secret Ties by Opal Carew… it has been on my wish list for a long time and I finally decided to treat myself!
I pre-ordered Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs.
I just bought a whole bunch of books way to many to list.
What I am most looking forward to are Lion’s Heat by Lora Leigh and Vampire Mistress by Joey W. Hill.
I’m looking forward to reading Lion’s Heat too…Jonas’ story has been a long time coming…I can’t wait to find out how it turns out.

Moira Rogers – Crux and Sanctuary
Lauren Dane – Laid Bare
Beth Williamson – The Stranger’s Secrets
Shiloh Walker – Hunter’s Need
Jeri Smith-Ready- Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone
But of course, waiting for Hell Fire! I always love whenever you spot/give away books… I usually look them up on Amazon and I’ve been referred to other authors by your suggestion. Thanks!
hey everyone what’s on your shelf waiting for you and screaming out your name but you can’t get to it yet because you have other more pressing books to read?
me? the whole IAD series by kresley cole. i bought pretty much the whole series at one time and i have yet to read a single one of those books.
I have SO many series waiting to read! My goal this month is to read one book from each of the series I’m in the middle of and not starting a new one (or ten!). I have 3 series by Katie MacAlister I want to read, Fledgling by Octavia Butler, and well about 50 other books. Oh, and I really want to read the Dresden Files and have like all the books (or at least most of them). I really should be reading and not on here.
I have a few that seem to be doing this.
Rosemary & Rue by Seanan McGuire
Changeless by Gail Carriger
Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn
Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series
I have the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series staring at me to start. I want to but for some reason I always grab something else.
I have a ton of books (waaay too many to list them all but here’s a couple sitting pretty high on the list)
*Dare to Surrender by Lilli Feisty
*Blood Ties by Kay Hooper
*Tie Me Down by Tracy Wolff
*Creations: Vol 2 by Marie Harte
*Untraceable by Laura Griffin
*Fragile by Shiloh Walker
*Waking Nightmare by Kylie Brant
*Reunited by Sally Painter
oh, I can’t count them *sigh* I have here to read: Jennifer Rardins Jaz Parks series, KMM Fever series, Stephanie Tylers Hold series to finish and actually I’m reading Nalini Singhs Archangels Kiss (wow, that is FANTASTIC – read it!!!!!! 😀 it’s gorgeous!)
greetings, Ina
oooohhh, the Fever series!!! It’s FANTASTIC!!! On my favorites list for SURE!
My TBR list is way to long though I have been working through my series books. Right now I am working through Joey W. Hill’s mermaid series. We will see what is next though I think it is going to be her Knights of the Board room books.
Oh there’s another Mermaid series? I’ll have to check that one out. I’ve never read Joey W. Hill but I read MaryJanice Davidsons Mermaid series and hated it. I’m not a fan of her writing style I guess cause I hated the couple of books I read from another of her series. I think a lot of it is my mood though and what I’ve been reading before hand. So I might try the other series again (can’t remember the name, but with the female vamp).
I’m trying to get to Terry Spears’ Legend of the White Wolf but all of the library books I put holds on have started coming in and I keep having to read those as they are all 2 week books.
I have the same problem.
Sandy this book is so pretty and have a copy somewhere out in mail purgatory that is coming to me and cannot wait to read. Legend Of The White Wolf will be my first Terry Spear and now have the entire series on my PBS membership Wish and Reminder Lists…
jackie b central texas 😉
How are Terry Spear’s books? I have been eyeing them but haven’t read any yet. I know they are a series but is it best to read in order?
Larena on every interview that Terry has ever done while promoting her latest release “Legend” she has stated that the books can be read out of order.
I wanted to start from the beginning but just fell in love with this particular book so much that got it first…
jackie b central texas
thanks for the info, Jackie. I ususally like to read series in order but sometimes it helps that they can be read out of order especially if you can find the first one easily.
You are welcome Larena, the reading in order of a series is something I try to do as well. I got into the membership at PBS for that very reason, there are so many series to read right now with more than 3 books and have gotten some of them set aside until have every book….
Terry Spear’s series is going to be one of these will read back to back when get the books over time…
jackie b central texas
I just picked up a Terry Spear book at the library sale. I’d never heard of her before but it’s published by Sourcebooks, and they’ve put out some interesting books lately.
I’ve had so much fan chatting with you all but this has become ANOTHER addiction! I have a giveaway I need to advertise for and a group I’ve been neglecting so if I don’t comment about everything that’s why. I need to try to not click over everytime someone posts and reply. And I NEED to clean my house today. I’ve said that everyday this week and I’ve only managed the bare minimum! Winning books is not a priority! Though, chatting with you guys is so much fun I just can’t stay away!
:ohh:Candace that addiction is exactly why Ann’s lottery is so much fun, the chatting about the series and authors we all love is worth every dust bunny and dirty pair of socks that do not get cleaned or washed!!!
I myself have to mow a 1/2 acre yard but since it is not dry enough yet can come sit in on all the fun for a while yet today….
jackie b central texas
It is amazing how many books I have on the TBR pile even books of authors I have read everything. Right now, I have the last Snookie book from Harris and the last Otherworld book from Galenorn.
what authors are poeple looking forward this year
who is in yoru brackets, baskeball lol

I’m really looking forward to reading :
*Crux – b/c I adore Bree/Donna’s work…they just create brilliant paranormal plots…their characters are just incredibly easy to love and the storyline is so absorbing.
*Hunter’s Need – I’m totally addicted to Shiloh’s work…I’ve been buying & reading up all of her backlist titles..her stand alone titles are simply exquisite. The sexual tension and the heat in the books are smokin’ hot!
*Primordial – I always enjoy reading Denise’s work and I’m slowly trying to work my way through her backlist.

I’m currently considering which book I should read next… can’t decide… what would you say – second book of the Tairen Soul series (C.L. Wilson) or Lucan by Susan Kearney??
greetings, Ina
Ina go with Susan Kearney and tell us what you think!!!
jackie b central texas
Lucan. And let us know how it is!
Terry Spear is a new author for me but I’ve been following her blog tour promoting her newest release and I have a feeling I’m going to end up loving all her work. I love werewolf themed stories so the books are definitely up my alley.
As for series books…I always have to read them in order…I can’t start a book halfway through a series even if they are stand-alone stories…just kinda weird that way
I’m the same way about reading series.
And I love werewolf-themed books too. They’re second to vampire-themes.
I meant to say that I’M just kinda weird that way…*buttery fingers da*n it*
I finished reading SCOUNDREL’S KISS and have to say, whoever wins it is in for a treat! Cannot wait for more Carrie Lofty goodness…
Now if I could only get my hands on START ME UP by Victoria Dahl. *sigh* I guess I’ll have to campaign for HQN to do a new print run. “I am reader, hear me roar!” Yeah, right.
I agree with you, the Lofty was a good one, one on the list I’ve read already.
Grats Alya!!
My 5 keep going away…
I would have to go with:
1. Hunters Need by Shiloh Walker
2. Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone by Jeri Smith-Ready
3. Lead Me On by Victoria Dahl
4. Marked by Elisabeth Naughton
5. Goddess of the Hunt by Tessa Dare
Congratulations Ayla 🙂
Some more questions kinda along the library thing again.
We don’t have Kindle available here in NZ yet in that we couldn’t download books for it (I believe). Does anyone on here have an electronic book reader and if so do you enjoy it?
Ayla, I have a Sony reader (first edition) and an Ebookwise reader that I use alot. The Sony reader lets me read pdf files, so that’s my favorite lately.
Which Sony reader is it? I have an eBookwise reader too and I love reading all my Fictionwise purchases on that since it’s totally hassle free to transfer books on it…but .pdf files are a total mess on the eBookwise…I really want an ereader that will handle pdfs’ nicely.
My 5 are still:
Diana Pharoah Francis
Bitter Night

still there !
Congratulations to Ayla!
Elisabeth Naughton’s Marked – love classical mythology. Love – know way too much about it. Like, a scary amount. So, a book based on it? Must be win.
Louisa Edwards – On the Steamy Side – food! Sex! Relationships! Um, that’s pretty much self explanatory for me, but I love talking food, reading about food, etc, and especially romance.
Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succubi – I’ve been hearing a lot about it, and the premise seems cute. Would definitely enjoy getting my hands on it.
Victoria Dahl – Lead Me On – I’ve got the others in the series and somehow don’t have this one yet, so my collection must be complete!
Juliana Stone – His Darkest Hunger – she’s a new to me author, and I’d like to try her books. It’s important to expand horizons right? 😉
Updating my 5
Moira Rogers – Crux and Sanctuary
Jeri Smith-Ready – Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone
Beth Williamson – The Stranger’s Secrets
Shiloh Walker – Hunter’s Need
I so sad! 🙁 I’m going to a book Fesitval this weekend, and there are authors there who I would love to get signatures from, however most of my books are in the e-format. Kinda hard to get your nook signed…
Omigosh…I would LOVE to go to a book festival like that…We never have any conventions/festivals like that in Ottawa where romance authors are like the main focus. They’re usually more for non-fiction and other genres that I don’t go near…
YOU ARE SO LUCKY!!! You know what would be an awesome idea? Why not buy a really cute notebook and print out a pic of the book covers of the authors who are attending…paste the book covers inside the notebook and then get them autographed. That would be a way for you to definitely have something really special to commemorate such an awesome event! Just a thought that’s all. 🙂
That is an awesome idea. I wish we had festivals like that too. And that would be such a cool reminder as well. You can even add pictures taken there later and make it a small scrapbook type deal for the whole event.
Yea, I was thinking that or doing sticks that I can put onto my ereader… but I don’t know if that sounds too High School… :::sigh:::
My five are still there!
Tessa Dare
Goddess of the Hunt
Elisabeth Naughton
ARC of Marked
Cynthia Eden
ARC of I’ll be Slaying You
Shiloh Walker
Hunter’s Need
And Victoria Dahl
Lead Me On
Shiloh Walker – Hunter’s Need
Jeri smith-Ready – Wicked Game &Bad to the Bone

Erica Hayes – shadowglass
Tessa Dare – goddess of the Hunt
Wow! What a huge thread! 😀
Well, my top five are now:
– Crux
– Sanctuary
– Leave Me Breathless
– Beyond the Shadows
– The Stranger’s Secrets
I know, this page is taking a long time to load for me. It might be because of the comments. 😉
Congrats to all the winners!
My updated top 5 picks are:
1. Marked ARC – Elisabeth Naughton
2. On the Steamy Side – Louisa Edwards
3. I’ll Be Slaying You ARC – Cynthia Eden
4. Shadowglass – Erica Hayes
5. Beyond the Shadows – Jess Granger
Here’s my list again, still hoping:
This thread is getting so long, liable to crash the blog, lol. I can’t even see the latest posts anymore.
Good morning and big congrats to Ayla!
@ MinnChica: yeah, but you could meet all authors in person!!! Since I’m living in Europe I have not even that possibility 😥
but wish you a fantastic time!!!
Hi Ina,
where in Europe do you live? I am from Germany.
Really?? oh my, I’m from Austria 😆 ist ja gleich um die Ecke *gg*
Lead Me On by Victoria Dahl was quite good, so whoever wins that will be in for a good read.
I have Jill Myles’ Gentlemen Prefer Succubi in my TBR but haven’t read it yet. The excerpt on her site looks interesting.
@Jackie Burris & Donna S.: okay, so Lucan will be my next book – I will start reading today and I will definitively let you know how I liked it!!
see you soon!! 😀
new list:
1.Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
2.Shadowglass
3.Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone
4.Marked
5.Hunters Need
Good Morning Everyone,
It’s another day in contest land…I wish everyone lots and lots of luck with winning their chosen books. 😀
Is it just me or has this contest totally monopolized everyone’s life? I’m like addicted to this site…I can barely pry my fingers off my keyboard b/c I’m always checking to see if I’ve won *please dear God let me win something*
Obviously, I’m like soo calm and collected about this…NOT! 😆
Samhain Cafe is also throwing a huge Reader Appreciation week long event…that’s my other weakness…*sigh* I love the internet but darn if it doesn’t make it difficult to function in other parts of my life. It’s awesome how I can justify not doing some of the other stuff b/c I keep telling myself that they’ll still be around long after the giveaways are over. 😆
Since I was off work sick on Monday and Tuesday, it was easy to let the contest take over…sadly, I had to go back to work and now can’t be around as much.
When I was at work, it was easier to keep track. Now that I’m home with a sick boy, I can’t seem to make it over here as much! Isn’t that weird? lol
I know I wish that I had computer access at work, but sadly no. I try to check in at least once daily though and the last few days that seems to be about all the chances that I get.
Havea great day!
Good Luck today Anna, maybe it will be the day you get chosen and it will be worth having the addiction to come check in all day long!!! Along with of course having fun with all the discussions among all of us!!!
:wink:jackie b central texas
I have to try not to let this contest take over my life, because I’m unemployed and not going to school so I have a LOT of time on my hands.
Good morning everyone!
Good Morning Christie 🙂
Wish all of Us a Great day..and Good luck ❗
Good morning Everyone!
Congrats Ayla on the win!!
I thought that I would stop in quickly before I have to start getting ready for work. Does anyone have any big weekend plans? My sister and sister-in-law are having a baby shower for my daughter this weekend…so, that is pretty much my plans besides work and house cleaning.
Have a great day!!
Have a wonderful day Lori!!!
congrats to your daughter! No big weekend plans for me, except for reading Skinwalker by Faith Hunter! I like the book so far. Haven’t read any by this author so far.
Here are my picks:
Jill Myles – Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
She was my guest on the Loveromances and More blog and her books sound really good.
Cynthia Eden – Eternal Hunter
I love her books and wasn’t able to get a copy of this book so far.
The following authors and books are all new to me, but I think it is a great chance to try a new author
Tessa Dare
Goddess of the Hunt
Jess Granger
Beyond the Shadows
Erica Hayes
Shadowglass
I have Gentlemen Prefer Succubi on my TBR pile (won it in a contest) but haven’t been able to get to it. has anyone read it yet? How was it?
I haven’t read any of Jill’s books…I’d be interested in knowing what y’all think about her books. 😀
Jill was my guest at the Love Romances and More blog and she made me really curious about her books.
Crux
Shadowglass
Mind Games
Twist
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
I haven’t read Jill’s books, but I just raced through the Georgina Kincaid series! (She’s a succubus too 😉
Good Morning everyone!
Has anyone seen a good book to movie/tv translation recently they would recommend?
Its such a tough translation though mediums that it seems things get messed up a lot and there arent as many good ones out there as you would think.
Donna,
I haven’t read LJ Smith’s Vampire Diaries, but I really like the series.
Worst. Adaptation. Ever. Okay, Queen of the Damned was the worst, but The Vampire Diaries takes a close second.
I’ve been reading those books since they first came out. They’re my comfort read. What they did on the CW was strip it of its characters, plot, pretty much anything that made it a story and made it into a television show.
I’m not saying it’s not a good show–I’ve only watched one episode and had to turn it off–it just doesn’t follow the books. Pretty much at all. Even with the names/looks of the characters.
/soap box
Sorry. 😮
I don’t read Ann Rice, but I was sucked into watching Queen of the Damned because of the eye candy that Townsend was in that movie.
Yeah, Stuart’s yummy, LOL. That movie has one of *the* best soundtracks ever. The adaptation, though, was atrocious. They left out the story of the twins, Maharet and Megara (crud…is that her name??? now I can’t remember), killed off characters who lived, it was bizarre. But I still own it…
I never read the book but Queen of the Damned is one of my fave vamp movies EVER!
I’m a huge fan of Aaliyah’s & Stuart was such a hottie Lestat. It was just a great paranormal movie to watch that wasn’t too gory or violent…
The soundtrack is still one of my absolute faves…the music was just exquisite!
I agree on the soundtrack! Especially Chester Benningston’s song System. One of my favorite songs.
I didn’t like Queen of the Damned, the book. The movie was ok. Not how I picture Lestat at all in my mind.
I think one of the best book-to-movie adaptations I’ve seen is Interview with the Vampire. Love the book and the movie! Brad Pitt makes a very hot vampire.
Liked the Lord Of The Rings movie adaptations, even though the movies in the trilogy are sooooo long they take almost as much time to watch as one of the books took to read!
Queen Of The Damned was in my opinion one movie that was actually better than the book because of the actors who portrayed the characters, would love to see The Vampire Armand by Anne Rice made into a movie because the character is so much more sensual and sexy than Lestat or Louis….

I tried watching the Vampire Diaries TV show once and turned it off. I usually find that if I liked a book then I get annoyed by the things that have been changed or are just totally wrong in a TV series.
Thanks for the advice, guess I will have to check out the books.
Personally I find Damon much more interesting in the TV series as Stefan, but could be because the actor is cuter. LOL
ive never read the vampire diaries books, but i love the show. i’ve heard it is sooooo different from the books!
The VD books are better but oh the visuals on Stefan and delicious Damon’s characters on the TV show make up for it in spades JoJo!!!! Kind of like your monthly hotties on your blog do!!!
jackie b central texas 😉 😈
Jodie,
I thought I was the only one who likes the series here.
I couldn’t stand the first book, so I quit 50 or 60 pages in. I do watch the show, though. Not the best show of all time, but it’s something to watch when nothing else is on.
Jackie: Damien is probably the only reason I continue watching this show! Yummm 😉
Hey Kelsey with you all the way, Bad Boy Damon is the real reason to watch VD and the main reason to read the books too!!
👿 👿 :evil:Jackie B Central Texas
revised list:
here are my picks!
Moira Rogers – Crux and Sanctuary
Victoria Dahl – Lead Me On
Beth Williamson – The Stranger’s Secrets
Shiloh Walker – Hunter’s Need
Jeri Smith-Ready- Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone
so excited… Ann you’re too generous!
thanks!
umm… vampire diaries. i don’t really have an opinion. i gave my sister the series to read a year ago and she really likes it and anticipating the upcoming release of the new addition to the series. i haven’t seen the show either but many really like it. i guess i’m just not into TEEN vampire books.
question: what do you guys do with your not-a-keeper books? donate, give away to friends, web swaps?
none of my friends are readers so i donate them to my local library who in turn sells all books people donate for $0.25. anyone know any good swap sites?
Funny that you ask the question chelleyreads, because there was recently a similar discussion on of my yahoo loops.
Autograped books, ARCs and books won in giveaways are definitely keepers for me.
Other books I swap with friends or sell them.
I will usually try to sell them to a second hand place that will give me credit so that I can get books that I know I really want. Helps to keep the book spending down some.
That’s what I do during my US trips and the books aren’t keepers.
Hi chelleyreads,
I keep ARCS, autographed books and ones I won (if I really like them).
The others I either give them to friends, my family, have giveaways, donate to the library or take them to a used book store for credit.
I send them to one of the ladies at Bitten by Books for our ebay store. There aren’t many I don’t keep, lol, but I figure since it’ll help raise funds, alls the better.
My last shipment had some older Sydney Sheldon books I had multiple copies of. He’s definitely a guilty pleasure of mine.
I sell my non-keepers to Half-Price Bookstore. I also buy a ton of books there too. It’s a little too far away to drive, but it’s the only discount bookstore remotely close to me. They have great customer service, too. They’re always willing to help find a book.
Chelleyreads, the books I have bought in MMPB that are over 5 years or so old in my shelves have started swapping out on PBS. I have in the past gone to Half Price Books with probably $10,000 worth of books and out of all of them got probably about $200 back, of course those books were ones had been buying over the span of 15 years so some of them were so out of date they were not worth anything . I do not go to the bookstore trade-ins because my local book store wants me to give them 5 books for 1 of theirs and it is better to trade on PBS 1 book for 1 book and pay the S&H….
I have also given away books to friends in the past when worked with other people who liked the same stuff I read!
jackie b central texas
I donate them to the Cdn. Diabetes Association (they have a program where they sell used goods to a second hand merchant and the proceeds go to the charity).
Morning everybody!
Here are my 5 again:
Shadowglass, Goddess of the Hunt, Jeri Smith-Ready’s books, and Shiloh Walker’s Broken.
I never give away any books that I’ve won from various contests…or autographed copies (they’re waay too precious!). There aren’t any opportunities for me to attend book conventions or festivals so these books are the closest I’ll get to being in contact with something directly from an author.
Same here, although I have been three times to the RT convention, but no chance to go in future when I start teaching this summer.
ok I’m a major book hoarder. I only trade/give away books if I have a duplicate. And this is why I’m turning to ebooks, because I’m seriously out of shelf space. :X
I usually keep my books. The ones I don’t love or know I won’t read again either go on a swapping sight or are given away.
Congratulations to Ralaena! And for the first time I’m going to have to switch up my list:
Elisabeth Naughton’s Marked – love classical mythology. Love – know way too much about it. Like, a scary amount. So, a book based on it? Must be win.
Louisa Edwards – On the Steamy Side – food! Sex! Relationships! Um, that’s pretty much self explanatory for me, but I love talking food, reading about food, etc, and especially romance.
Jess Granger – Beyond the Shadows – I heard so many good things about her first book in the series (pretty sure I’ve got the right one) – would love to try it out!
Victoria Dahl – Lead Me On – I’ve got the others in the series and somehow don’t have this one yet, so my collection must be complete!
Juliana Stone – His Darkest Hunger – she’s a new to me author, and I’d like to try her books. It’s important to expand horizons right? 😉
Reset! I’m announcing the winner now.
Awesome!! Congrats again to the winners!! Now to repost…
Carolyn Crane – Mind Games (The buzz around this has been huge)
Juliana Stone – His Darkest Hunger (I’m a cover slut. I’ll admit it.)
Jess Granger – Beyond the Shadows (The reviews have been amazing so far)
Erica Hayes – Shadowglass (I have a thing for demons, lol)
and adding Eternal Hunger because of all the recs for it!
Congrats Raelena!!!!
